Last week Duncan started getting picky about his food to the point of refusing to eat anything on Friday. I spoke with the Emergency Vet office connected with our regular vet. Because Oncology is off Friday-Sunday I opted to give Duncan pain meds I have on hand and made a regular appointment for check up with Oncology.
D's blood levels are good with the white blood cells a little low which is attributed to the chemo capsules for the small cell lymphona. With my permission they aspirated 2 lymph nodes (which are larger than they were 3 weeks ago when he spent the weekend with them - my annual visit to MN). They saw the small cells and also some that were larger...uh oh. The cells have been sent to the lab for analyzation. At this point we are back on the predisone that was discontinued 3 weeks ago and canned food (hey pass the crackers this smells like pate...no, really it does!!). The "pate" was a huge hit and he even decided to crunch down a couple of kibble bits after our end of the day walk.
As always with our family here, rays would be appreciated for an easy outcome to the test results.
I'll tell y'all later about the weird dream I had last night.
Rays are headed your way for Duncan and Dad! Keep us posted.
Oh no! Loads and loads of rays to our friend, Duncan. I sure glad he's scarfing the pat'e. I sure hope everything comes out good as far as the tests. This is so sad to hear that he's having health issues. How old is he, Mike?
Rays & Hugs to Duncan glad to hear he is eating again.
All our bestest rays heading your way. Poor baby and poor you too. It is good to hear he is enjoying the pate to help keep his strength up. Perhaps a few oatcakes along with it would go down a treat....
Pawsies crossed for an easy outcome on the test results.
Rays and hugs coming from Autumn MI
Marcia & Danni
Hilde and I are adding our rays for Duncan. Hope he continues to improve and get better every day.
Rays certainly coming from here to there. Duncan is so lucky to have you, Mike. Good to hear
he's eating again.
Thank you, one and all. This morning Duncan was feeling better and even ate dry dog food. I'll still give me the wet to ease the 5 (or 6 depending on the day) pills down the gullet.
The oncology vet called and the results are just what she hoped for. The ratio of small cells to medium/large was in line with it still being the small cell lymphona. So, long term back on the prednisone with double dose for the next 7 days to knock :verdict: those (&(*&)%^%& lymph nodes back down.
Sandy, I figure him to be 9 now as of his July Gotcha Date.
Now, The Dream...
I dreamt that D and I were in the car driving to a supermarket (I have no idea why). As usual I was talking to him when he morphed into a guy wearing a dog costume. Instead of growling and woofing his speech also changed to human. I looked at him and asked "so, I suppose you won't talk to me like this if I take you to work with me." He replied, "nope". About that time a guy with a Spanish accent came up to the car and him if he was ready to come back home. He looked at me and then the guy and said "I guess so". I shouted "NO YOU'RE NOT!!!" Then I woke up and he was laying tight against me asleep. He now refuses to speak human to me anymore.
Oh gosh - I missed this ! Sending both of you rays and good thoughts...what a precious boy..... crazy dreams we have about our kids...... :comfort:
No more ice cream for you before bedtime, Mike! ADORABLE pose! Thanks for the picture. Whew! Good news, indeed. Duncan, you can talk to your dad anyway you want to. Love ya, little guy.
Missed the earlier report. Glad to hear that the news is good and Duncan is back on his feed. When these guys are not eating that's always alarming. Rays coming from Iowa.

ADORABLE pose! Thanks for the picture.
This our version of Smell-O-Vision, go to the pantry, get a bag of Fritos and put the pic on the screen...
Glad to hear he is improving and eating better. As dreams go, that was an unusual one for sure. Sending continued rays for your baby.
Darcel
more Rays & Hugs to Duncan.
I missed this. Glad the test came back good.
Sending HHHHH's & PPPPP's for Duncan.
Merion & Zena
Extra lymph node shrinking rays heading your way. Gorgeous snuggly pic. What a pity we don't have smellavision. No fritos over here but fresh digestive biscuits work too. Please give Duncan an extra snuggle for us.
keep fighting Duncan, glad to here food is going down.
Da gang
Glad things were what the vet (and you) hoped for. Really glad he is eating again. that dream is certainly an unusual one. Just the other day, my friend and I were saying we sure wish our animals could talk to us, or at least we had a Dr Doolittle around sometimes. I do not think I want them morphing into a human if they are going to talk!
Love, love, love the pose!
any updates on Sir Duncan? I was heavily involved in dosing 3 of mine with meds and must've missed his lack of appetite and wacky white blood cells.
