Title: Hallie having surgery
Post by: Teresa on July 31, 2012, 05:03:09 AM
I saw on Facebook that Hallie is having surgery for an abscess again. I know Dee Dee would appreciate all the prayers and rays she can get since Hallie has to be put under again. Otherwise, they are doing well and Hallie's nose is doing great in their nose work classes and trials.

Thanks you guys! She is home and groggy and trying to get that strange thing out of her rear (drainage tube). But she made it thru the surgery ok! She just got over her last surgery on her mouth and now this one poor baby. Biggest challenge now is keeping her from bothering her tube but we'll get thru it. She goes back Friday to hopefully get it taken out. Thanks for the good thoughts!

Thanks!! She did great last night, slept like a baby and didn't try to bother her tube at all. Today she can walk around without tucking her butt and sitting every couple of steps, although pottying is an issue, looks pretty painful yet. She ate breakfast like a champ and took her liquid antibiotics great even though I could tell she didn't like it.  She is asleep under my feet in her bed now. I am so glad she's being a perfect patient I was picturing all kinds of trubble!

Well that good girl  :angel4: took it upon herself to wiggle out of her neck towel when I jumped into the shower quick today and managed to pull her tube out.  I was so mad at myself! But she was to get it out tomorrow anyway the vet said it would probably be fine so in the end it was a really good thing we aren't having to deal with it anymore.  :hello2: So she really is a very good girlie! And a much happier and comfortable girlie. And a very clean little girlie as she had a bath since we didn't have to worry about the tube anymore.  :thumb:

Clever wee girlie!  It is great to hear she is so feisty and coming along well.  A relief all round.
Sweet how she clearly wanted a bath; Red always asks me for a shower after he is poorly too.

She had it in allot longer then some dogs would have she almost made it so she was a tiny bit early I'm assuming this was a rectal absces is their something you can add to her food to keep it from happening again ? Hope this is the last time she will have to deal with this problem sending more Rays & Hugs for a speedy recovery and no problems in the future. Patches,Buddy papbouv

We went in for the recheck yesterday and the vet was surprised how good it looked, he said she was a week ahead of schedule on her healing. Yeah!!  :hello2: I also asked him about cushings, (SARDs dogs are prone to it) she has some hair thinning down her back and has been eating REALLY well lately (usually a problem the other way) and he brought out her recent urinalysis and blood work and went over everything and said it was all perfect, he said it was remarkable results for a dog her age with her issues and nothing makes him at all suspicious of cushings. DOUBLE YEAH!!!  :hello2: :hello2: So the good eating has to be from her tooth surgery, I feel bad I didn't know she had an abscessed tooth.  :dontknow: But she's so much better now.

We went to nosework practice this morning (she has her big trial next weekend) and she was rarin' to go, she hadn't worked all week so was chomping at the bit to do her nosework stuff, she did great and we took a little walk after, she's been feeling really good.

LOL Andrea, so cute about Red, they are so human like sometimes it's scary! They have to feel so much better after a bath after being at the vets.

Papbouv, yes it was an anal sac abscess. She had one in 2006 when she was 6, same side, which caused some scarring and made her prone to getting it again. 6 years isn't too bad though, if it starts to happen often he can take the gland out on that side but hoping he won't have to. It was very pasty instead of fluid which makes it harder for them to empty out. Age thing. I have added pumpkin back into her diet so hopefully that will help.  :thumb:

Its winter here so not many baths...............but Oliver has had a few dips as he usually has a run through the mud in the dam every other week.
Great to hear she is on the mend Dee Dee love the towel squirm you have to watch like a hawk don't you. Our little snot we could not find the other day and was starting the "she must be stuck in room" search turned to find her on the SOFA with the "whats up MUM" look.

Glad Hallie is doing so well and is on the mend ahead of schedule is always good news glad she is into her nose work keeps her brain working and sharp.Going to send more Rays and healing thoughts just to make sure everything is going in the right direction for her. Did you hear Bonnie did a rain dance for us here in Oklahoma and we got a little bit of rain last night twice and its only 98*. It has been in the 11*-114* for days and days having fires all around so we could use more rain here if any one has any extra to send this way. I do not like being the hottest state in the USA.papbouv
