Just thought I'd start a thread to get caught up on all our WW friends. Summer is here and everyone is enjoying the sunshine and maybe even a getaway vacation. If you have a moment, please share with us what's been going on with you and your Wieners.
Bonnie's newest adventure has been her new ramp to the big bed. She is a pro now and goes up (most of the time) and down (again most of the time) with ease. The foam ramp doesn't creak or squeak, so it doesn't wake us up. Missy is getting older though and is beginning to show signs of the same dementia thing that Maddie had. In other words, she confuses day with night and sometimes I wake up to hear her just walking around the room, not really doing anything but wandering.
Other than that, she is in fine shape and actually has become much more cuddly and playful with both of us. While she won't climb into Mark's lap, she will slam herself against him on the couch and put her "claiming" paw on his leg. She more readily crawls into my lap and loves it when I prepare for a nap in the recliner. She's right there to HELP me with this "chore".
I'm planning a trip to Ohio in August to see my Mom's side of the family. Mom's been gone now for several years, so I wanted to get back there to see aunts, uncles and cousins at least one more time. Mark will be staying home with the Bon Bon. I'm holding my nose and flying. I HATE to fly.
That's it for us. How about you?
One more thing, maybe a prayer or two, please. My friend, Linda, was rushed to the ER on Friday with severe headache and vomiting. A CAT scan revealed a brain
aneurisym. She has had a new procedure similar to angioplasty and is still in recovery. Doctors are optomistic, so I'm just waiting to hear word.
Take care everyone!
Sandi, Mark and Bonnie (the wieneriest wienerdog around)
Linda's procedure has had great results so far. She is awake, though very very tired and weak. She is back in her room at Stanford and, as of last night, is resting. Apparently the procedure they did has a wire that enters the groin and wiggles up through the body into the head and brain. It then scrapes away the ugly and leaves the good. I know that's not the best medical description but that how I picture it.
So if any are reading and wondering how this went, it's doing better than expected. I'm happy that she got some fine medical care.
Sorry Sandi - just now seeing this ! Prayers and rayz for your friend Linda - Very very scary. Please keep us posted.
Will update on me and the kids when I have a few minutes !!!!
Smoochies to the BonBon..... it is so hard as they age.... :comfort:
Schatzi is doing great. She has had a lot of visitors lately. It seems that Meghan's room has been occupied by someone at least once every couple of weeks so she thinks it is fun to go sniff out all their stuff.
Randy's dad is here occasionally, and will be living here permanently within the next six months or so. We are in the process of getting his house ready to sell. Once it is sold, he will move in here and we will add on a bedroom/sitting room for him along with a bathroom. He is lonely and his vision isn't great. We mentioned this to him a few months ago and gave him time to make the decision himself. He and Randy's mom lived in this last house for 40 years (just imagine all the stuff in it!) and he needed to be ready to leave it on his own. Schatzi adores him, and he adores her, so she will be a happy puppy.
Meghan is usually home every few weeks, and we have friends that live in Greensboro now, but still have a business in Greenville, that are in town once a month or so and stay with us.
I am still raising chickens with my good friend and co-worker, Lou Ann. Her husband passed away this past May. He had dementia and was in assisted living. He was starting to decline somewhat, but then got pneumonia and was gone within a couple of days. She is doing well, and the chickens, especially the newest ones, keep her busy and distracted. I take Schatzi over there occasionally, and the last time she was there, she totally ignored them. Usually, she wants a chicken dinner. Lou Ann's dog, Murphy is Schatzi's best buddy, so I think they just prefer to have "dog talks" about why the winged animals get more attention than they do.
This weekend we are all just trying to stay cool in the 100+ degree temps (and keep chickens alive since they do not fair well in hot temps). We have had a wonderful, normal, summer so far and I am ready for it to return! Hope everyone is doing well!
A big hello from Hilde and me. We are fine and doing well in Michigan. My sister's foot is doing much, much better. She was able to actually put weight on it again at the beginning of June. This is after 2 1/2 months. So she is now slowing building up the weight she can place on it. So now I can go back to looking for a job again. I no longer need to stay home with my sister and look after her.
Miss Hilde seems very happy here. We are not looking forward to the noise from the 4th celebrations. The firework noises drive her crazy. When they go off she starts running and barking all around the house. I've tried lots and lots of things that are suppose to calm her down, but they all seem to have the opposite effect. I'm hoping one of these days I'll find something to help calm her. She acts the same way when thunder roars.
Hope everyone is keeping cool.
