We have one of those folding steel wire kennels where Ozzy sleeps when we are at my parent's house. It's the same one he spends his days in while I'm at work. OK, remember the word "steel."
Since we had close to 30 people at my folk's on Thanksgiving Day, we decided to put Ozzy in his kennel in my parent's room, where it is out of the way and more quiet. I went in every hour to get him out for exercise and "potty" breaks.
About the third time I went to the room, I found the door locked, and the voice of my 5-year-old niece called out, "Ozzy is out of his kennel!" I told her to unlock the door, open it slowly, and I would catch Ozzy. Sure enough, Ozzy tried to escape, but I caught him and carried him into my parent's room.
In the room, along with my niece, was the 4-year-old daughter of one of my cousins, and both girls' eyes were as big as saucers.
I asked them how Ozzy got out of the kennel, and my niece replied, "He must have chewed through the lock." :dontknow:
I kept a straight face and went ahead and took Ozzy out. When I put him back in the kennel, I stayed in the room for a while, enjoying the peace and quiet. However, there was a lot of thumping sounds coming from the kennel, so I got down on my knees and took a closer look at Ozzy in the kennel. Apparently, not only had Ozzy chewed through the locks, but he got his own food bowl and drug it into the kennel as well!!!
Come to find out, my brother-in-law told the girls they could go into the room and get Ozzy out, as long as they kept the door shut and locked (although I don't recall him asking ME if it was OK for the girls to do that!!) :ticked:
Overall, a good Thanksgiving holiday in spite of my mother having foot trouble, so my sister and I did most of the work, and no discussion on religion! :thumb:
LOL! Thanks for sharing a good laugh. :2funny:
My nieces and nephews have come up with some pretty strange stories too. Like the time my nephew had a screw "accidently" get stuck in his ear......
I had a similar thing happen with Bridget about a year and a half ago. The house we were living in at the time had a beautiful dog run. So in the spring, I let Bridget and Joy stay out there while I was working part time. I came home one afternoon, and saw Bridget working away at something close to the ground. When I pulled in a little closer, Bridget came running THROUGH the gate. She had systematically chewed on the chain link until she unwound it in 2 or 3 places, just big enough for her to wiggle through. Thank God she hadn't damaged any of her teeth!
OMG - he wanted OUT of there !!!!
(Glad you had a good Thanksgiving !)
