Title: Treat Recalls
Post by: Deb G. on May 23, 2012, 02:10:57 PM
Greetings!
If you haven't already heard...chicken treats made in China (including some 'Major' brand names) are making dogs ill.  I've pasted the info from an article from Channel 8 in Las Vegas here (I read Google Health news daily).

The Article:
****Nearly a thousand dogs have become sick from eating dog treats made in China.  There are three brands in question:

•Waggin' Train made by Nestle Purina
•Canyon Creek made by Nestle Purina
•Milo's Kitchen Treats made by Del Monte

All three have been making dogs sick. The Food and Drug Administration has been warning pet owners for a few years about problems that continue to arise in dogs who eat chicken jerky treats, strips, or nuggets.

The agency says if you have any chicken jerky treats made in China in your house, throw them out. ****

This is awful!  Poisoning pets.  What has happened to quality control.  Don't these big corporations care about their product???

Between this and the brand I feed my dogs being recalled, I'm irritated lately with dog product manufacturers.  My dogs loved the Waggin Train pork chews filled with liver, and I haven't been able to given them to the doggies.   :cussing:

If your dogs like chicken slice it thin bake it at around 300* for about an until its done then let it dry out in the oven just put it in the freezer take out what you need. Or you can go to   http://www.bullwrinkle.com/index.html?Assets/Recipes/Recipes.htm~indexmain    look down the page to site features go to the recipes. Some use wheat flour but you can get creative use rice flour all kinds of specialty flours out there experiment. If you do not want to bake in the summer google Microwave treats for dogs they have recipes for dog cookies in the microwave fast & easy.Best part you know what is it the treats you are giving your dog if I buy treats I look all over the package for made in USA. Matter of fact last time I was at Pets-mart they were trying to get me to buy that canyon brand I said very loudly I do not buy anything from China they kill dogs. Should not take a rocket scientist heck they eat dogs in China so they do not care about dogs, I should say some do not care about dogs. papbouv

Yes I make my own, the chicken fillet I bash out with a meat mallet and crisp them in the oven a fillet goes the whole week with us so I just put it in a siatight container. Probably could do it with other meat, but Amy cannot have any fat.
