Mail man put mail in our mail box so I went to get it had one foot on the porch other foot in the house.Patches the 14# Dachshund in the house at the time trained not to go out the front door I tell her wait. I'm out getting our mail the Stupid lady next door turns out Mary Jane (50#Pit bull mix) and MJ pup about 4 months old his dad a Rotti. MJ sees me getting my mail she comes running over hackles up I shut the storm door. MJ is on MY porch growling I tell her to go home growls and barks at me while I'm in my own house.
About 2years ago they moved in next door Mary Jane I was told was a bird dog (not) she was an adult had a bad habit of hitting our galvanized 6ft solid steel fence its like what metal buildings are made of. Hubby a welder put it up about 5-6 years ago he put a concrete curb down the whole length of the yard, then put up the steel 6ft fence to replace the rotten wood fence. He put it on the inside of the existing cyclone fence giving up some of our property. Well every time Buddy my Doberman & Patches were in the back yard or we were in the back yard this crazy Mary Jane would hurl her body at the fence right where there tree was growing into our fence and trying to push it over.Hubby put up 2 more panels and then ran Hog wire fence on the inside of the steel fence double fenced.
Well the people have been letting their dogs run loose for two years now the 1st pup MJ had landed in the pound. Now the 2nd litter pup is about 4 months old never socialized chase people walking down the street fence fight with the dog on the other side of us they have a front yard fenced.
The boyfriend was chewing me out because I told his girlfriend I had a base ball bat even have a gun to protect Patches if needed.Buddy is big enough to handle him self but if I would go in to protect him if it came up. I'm scared Buddy would blow though the storm door which I keep locked when he is in the house. Also when hubby is edging the front yard he sometimes just puts up a gate to keep Buddy & Patches in the back yard. If those dogs came into the our garage I think Buddy would blow though that gate in a heart beat. Hubby came outside when the boyfriend was on me about me telling him there is a Leash Law ,keep your dogs in your yard. Hubby never said a word just herded me into the house. Then that made me mad too. Thanks for letting me vent old grouchy woman.
Hubby came outside when the boyfriend was on me about me telling him there is a Leash Law ,keep your dogs in your yard. Now let me get this right. The neighbor was telling YOU about leash laws when it was THEIR dog on YOUR front porch and growling and hackles up? Hmmmm, I didn't think I was THAT stupid but did I miss something here? Sounds to me that Mary Jane dog is going to hurt another dog or person and then there will be trouble. Can ya talk to them when tempers have died down? You and your dogs deserve to feel safe in your own home and, I might add, your own neighborhood. This people sound ridiculous!
No, her hubby came out while she was telling the idiot next door that there are leash laws, and hubby ushered her back inside.
I'm not so sure I wouldn't just call animal control next time.
Animal control was out the neighbors on the other side called them out last year and talked to them Mary Jane the dog took off supposedly Animal control could not catch her but they did turn in Charlie he was a pup Mary Jane had in winter.Poor Charlie went to the pound, never was socialized but he was friendlier than the pup she had this last winter he is half Rotti so will be a bigger dog when grown.Hate to call animal control do not know if they would throw something in our yard that my kill my dogs. You just never know now days.
It reminds me of when my family lived in California when I was a little kid. Our neighbor on one side had a German Shepherd that always tried to jump the fence. One day the shepherd smashed through the fence (it was a wooden slat fence), but apparently was in a daze from doing so. The owner promptly retrieved the Shepherd, fixed the fence and kept her on a chain for a while.
We try to love all dogs, but when another dog is out of its owners' control and threatens my dogs, all options are on the table and I will do what I need to do to protect my dogs. I once kicked a dog that had attacked Max-angel twice to prevent a third attack...so hard that I knocked the wind out of it. As much as I hate to admit it, I actually found the "pffft" sound she made when my foot impacted her grimly satisfying...but, again, I was not going to allow this doing to hurt Max a third time.
