Title: Bonnie is achy and off to the Vet on Friday morning
Post by: BonniesMom on February 16, 2012, 08:02:17 PM
Since the panting and shivering episode, Bonnie hasn't been quite right.  We always try to make it all better and try to believe it is but she's just not feeling up to par.  Off to see Doc Alwen tomorrow bright & early.  I'm worried about her poops.  She did a tiny one this morning and nothing so far tonight and she ate already.  Still eating fine.  She jumped from the futon onto the floor and yelp a little.  I couldn't catch her fast enough.  Not good.  Must watch that!  At least she's not in severe pain (no panting and bad shivering).  She quivered a little this evening but it was cold in the house.  I hope I'm not in denial.  Yeah, it sounds like I am.  :dontknow:

Anyway, we're off to have her checked out tomorrow.  Please send rays to my precious little Bonnie.  Thank you.

Tons of rays Sandi - scary.  Hope that her discomfort is related to maybe being stopped up?  Please let us know as soon as you get back  :comfort:

Hi Sandi, so sorry to read this, we hope it is just a reaction to the chill and nothing worse.  Red always scales his intake to the outdoor temperature....to limit output...perhaps your clever little girlie is trying to do the same.  We are rooting for you all the way, please let us know how she gets on, all our love
Andrea & crew.

Well, Bonnie isn't as bad as she let on.  No bad back issues.  Doc said the x-ray read a narrow spot on the T-something zone but that even he said that this part of the spine can be tricky and 80% of the time, the picture presented is nothing to be scared of.  He said that everything on her is pretty straight.  He did put her on a crate rest of at least 4 weeks, which for Bonnie only entails me putting lots of quilts on the floor, shutting off the futon room and making sure she's snuggly in her bed when I go to work in the morning.  It is almost a 100% guarantee that she will still be in her bed when I come home for lunch.   She's also on Metacam for 2 weeks once a day with liquid in a syringe in her mouth.  So all in all, a very positive $500.00 vet visit.  Mark has informed me that we cannot go to lunches out on Wed (our favorite thing these days on our day off) until April.  But at least I know now.  Kind of expensive to have peace of mind but it's done with and no follow up is needed.  I hope to have my sweet Bon Bon around for a couple of more years, at least.

Thank you all for your support.  And speaking of support, a shout out to my friends Teresa and Kimber.  Teresa picked me up at 7:15 this morning to transport her over to Edna ValleyVet and Kimber picked me up at work at 4:30 to bail her out.  The vet techs all told me that Bonnie was a super good girl for her day visit and very sweet to everyone.

Boy are we rélieved.  No lunches out for a while but snuggle pen cure doesn't sound such a bad exchange, we hope it goes by quickly for all of you. Hugs to you and slurpy kisses to BonBon.

That is GREAT news!!!! Yeay! I am so relieved too. I'm sure she will be right as rain after her "incarceration" (sounds like a really cushy recovery plan!) Good girl Bonnie!!!!!!!  :hello2: :hello2: :hello2:

Any time it is not the back on a doxie, it is a huge blessing.  I know anytime I have been walking my Missy, I watch her for the "signs".  ONe night she just started limping in her back leg and it turned out to be a sand spur in her paw.  SIGH!
