Title: Dentastix
Post by: Barry on February 16, 2012, 03:28:10 PM
I give my Missy a dentastick every night when I get home from work.  The other day she grabbed the denastick and ran to the couch (she is afraid I will take it away) and she bit down in the center (sideways in her mouth) I noticed she seemed to be having trouble withe with it.  She started slobbering and I could tell something was wrong.  She started clawing at it in her mouth and I went over to help her get it unstuck. It was pretty far back in mouth and I tried to pry it lose, but she wouldn't let lose of it for fear it was going to go down her throat.  I let her try again on getting it out, but her clawing didn't work and she was getting scared (so was I) I then put my finger in the front of her mouth and got between the dentasick and her toungue.  I was finally able to bring it forward and then she let go.  Scary moment. I now break up the dentastick into 3 pieces and hopefully will avoid this again. These things do a nice job on her teeth, but they are so gummy.  Hope some will learn from my mistake.

Millie does that with sticks in the yard.  She bites through the center, and ends up with a chunk wedged in her upper jaw.  She luckily is patient about letting me get it out once I catch her.
