I am feeling a little better now. Food is still getting stuck up there, so mama took me into the vet today. He looked at it and we tried some carrot baby food to see just how much is getting stuck in there. Then after I ate that, we went back. Good news, only a teensy tiny bit of that whitish stuff was actually food bits. The vet gived me a shot to help with the owies from what he was going to do to me. But, really?? A shot to kill pain?? How does that make sense. Shots hurt too dummy!! :BangHead: Anyway..after dat shot I was feeling good. (Sorry, mama can't remember what is was exactly) Then the vet used this water pusher thingy to clean out the tooth hole. He got all the orange out, but the whitish stuff was gunked in there good. So he used the tooth pokey thing and gently poked at it till he got a bit out. He looked at it under his microscope and saw that it was mostly skin tissue. So, dat means my gums are trying to fill in the hole already. :headbang: There were some tiny white bits we think are rice too, so we have another new food recipe. I can get the turkey, blueberry, smoothie and mama has to get rid of the rice and use baby food carrots instead. She is too make it really soupy so it won't get stuck anymore. I get dese smoothie things for the rest of this week, then next week I can have beef smoothies. Have to do the soupy mix until the end of this month for sure, maybe into December a little bit. My tummy issues are doing good now since the vet gave me that nummy pastey stuff Saturday. Mama got all excited cause I went poo today. Really??! Its not that big of a deal to have normal poo is it?! Anyway...I slept all night long and I'm not so hungry since we added a carbrohydrate to the food (rice). But, now that the rice is out, any ideas for a carbohydrate substitute that won't leave residue and will get soupy when mixed with the other food? Mama is thinking yams?? :dontknow: I am glad I feel so much better. I just wish I could eat more. I can't seem to feel full and I accidentally broked the syringe thingy today cause I bit it when the vet tried to give me food. So now we have a new one and the vet said to scold me if I put my lips around it. He's mean! Also, he said my ouchies are healing really well and show no signs of irritation or infection (beyond the normal amount). So I shouldn't have to go back for a little while. :apls: Now its mama's turn.
 Porky Pie
Thanks for all the rays and prayers! They are really helping!! Porky got a good report today at the vet's office on how he is healing. We were able to score a free vet visit this weekend for the probiotic paste because we live in a rural community and caught our vet as he was headed to a ranch. He lives about 1/4 mile from where we live, so it was on his way. If he didn't live so close, we would have taken him to Dr. Paul, another vet that lives near us to get the paste. Dr. Bill has been really great and seems to really have bonded with Porky. The tummy issues have fully resolved and Porky had his first normal poo since surgery this morning! We got news about one of the tumors that it is for sure benign!! :headbang: It was an oral epulis and was the smallest of the three tumors found. It was found between his two farthest back teeth on the right side. They were perfectly fine teeth, but were loosened by the tumor and could not be saved. The other tumors are being tricky and not showing exactly what they are inconclusively yet. Further tests are being done on them. The one found under the tongue is showing signs of being a malignant melanoma, BUT all around it, the skin cells are totally normal. So we are thinking it was caught so early that it didn't get a chance to metastasize or go anywhere else. :xfinger: At this point, we are not going to have to do further surgery or chemo even if it does come out as 100% malignant melanoma on the tongue tumor. Hope that all made sense, I'm tired. LOL! The other tumor isn't indicating what it is at all so we are calling it benign for now. Like I said earlier, more tests are being conducted on it and we should know by next week. The lung fluid came back totally normal so nothing has spread there. If the tongue tumor is for sure malignant, we will have an aspiration done of Porky's lymph nodes to make double sure there is nothing going on there as far as cancer goes. We will have his blood test done at that time as well. I am supposed to be extra vigilant about watching for more tumors and try to check the hard to see areas at least once a week. If I have trouble getting Porky to let me look under his tongue, etc... we will have to have the vet check him every 6 months. We are trying to avoid having to anesthetize him that often if at all possible, but this will be a life-long worry and something we will always have to watch for. We are sure hoping the other cheek tumor comes back as an epulis as well.
We also took Porky's weight today to see how he is doing on that and he is down from 10.2 to 10.0. But, the vet said it wasn't a big concern yet. We will check his weight next week and if it has gone down more we will add a hi-cal liquid food to the food I'm already making for Porky. We can't do the Nutri-cal as it has corn syrup in it, but that was a GREAT suggestion anyway. We appreciate all the helpful ideas and advice people have had for us. My tough guy is back to wanting to play and steal socks, so we are taking that as a good sign. He does have a slight cough now, but the vet said with all the mouth trauma, that is normal and should go a way in a day or so. The nose issues have been at least 80% better. We still have wheeze issues, but only once a day or so! :apls:
Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!
:thumb: We're so glad that Porky is feeling much better. And really super duper good news about the tumors being benign. Keep milkin' it, Mr. Porky. Sounds like you are getting meals fit for the King you are. Beef smoothies! Yeah, Bonnie will have one of those.
Bonnie gives you tail wags from her new couch throne. Woof and Barrooo!
WOW - what an ordeal..... still keeping good thoughts that all the tumors are benign.....and that they got them out in time !!!!
Porky - instead of mashed tators - we don't want the food to get stuck in the hole....maybe mom will make tator soup !!!! :thumb:
Poor Porky~! I missed the whole surgery issue, but I'm glad he's feeling better. Bread is high carb, and in a liquid will basically mush down to nothing. Probably wouldn't hurt to put 1/2 slice of bread in his food and blend it.

Would think mashed sweet potatoes would be about the same as the carrots.Sorry the Nutri cal idea did not work out, canned pumpkin has allot of good things in it also good for dogs.Bet Porky will be happy when he can have the meat soup more Rays & Hugs on the way.
Auntie Keren sayz:Â
Take any food you want Porky to eat, put in the blender on low, slowly add half and half creamer (good for calories) until it's the consistency of a smoothie.
Seal it in an old peanut butter jar, mail it to Guinness Hening, 340â€"
GUINNESS!!
O.K., o.k., neber mind bout da peanut butter jar part. Jes' give it to Mr. Pie 'n' tell 'im "Bone A-Peh-Teet."
whateber DAT means . . . :bs:
Great idea 'bout the taters! I like those a lot!! Mama is trying oatmeal stuff in it right now, but if that gets all stuck we will try the taters next. She grinds up the oatmeal till it looks like flour, then add the other tasty stuff. I like my smoothies a lot and so far I haven't gotten any stuck since yesterday. :hello2: I can eat up to 2/3 of a cup of the meat smoothie now, so I feel more like I am getting fed. Mama usually only gives me 1/3 cup at a time cause she is worried my tummy issues will come back if I eat to fast. The things that I hate the most is that all that smoothie stuff dribbles on my chin!! I try to clean it up cause I don't like messes, but mama has to help me with a washcloth thingy. I never used to dribble anything except water. And that was funny cause I dribbled it across the house.
I can't have the half and half stuff cause the dairy makes me get bleeding in my tummy. That's why we had to look so hard for the coconut milk yogurt. Its dairy free!! My mama's nephew can't have the dairy either so he shares his yummy rice milk and coconut milk with me. Oops!! I wasn't supposed to say that cause he lets me drink right outta his cup and then we kiss each other. He was a much more fun boy when he couldn't chase me though. Now he kinda hits me on accident when he tries to pet. I'm glad I don't have to be chased by him again till spring. Mama says look out cause he will be a terrible two then. :chairfall:
Good luck hope you can find the coconut milk yogurt sounds tasty.Patches & Buddy mom use to give us a coconut once in awhile but then ran into some with mold type stuff so she quit buying them.
