Duncan!!!!
We are making good progress. The marking has all but stopped and his pooping schedule has adjusted pretty well. He has been on the phenobarbitol for 13 days now and his ravenous appetite is not as bad and no more seizures during this period. Hopefully we can cut back on the med to minimize potential internal organ damage. The last couple of days he has started playing with his squeaky toys again. Walks are much calmer and involve much sniffing along our several routes. During this morning's walk the little bugger managed to gobble some skwirl poop before I could stop him. So, I decided it was time to see how much he likes a bath....he doesn't. But we got through the ordeal and he likes to get a towel rub down after the bath. He has tested negative for the giardia twice now so he'll start making the rounds to meet his extended family. He has a chihoooahoooa cousin who apparently like dachshunds specifically (who doesn't?).
You will notice he appears to have incredibly long nails. Actually the fur on each toe is black from the nail all the way up to the base of the toe.
And now, here is the Man of the Hour in chronological order of the last 3 weeks.
And a few more.
Great news Mike! I knew Duncan would shape up once he realized what a good deal he'd fallen into. Sounds like you've got a handle on the seizures. He's a good looking fellow as well. Enjoyed the glimpse of your music room (wish I had a claw foot stool like that for my electric piano).
WoooHoooo!! I was wondering how things were going. You are such a good dachsie daddy. Duncan must know that he has really landed in a wienerful place! He looks like he has mischief in his eyes. What a handsome boy.
Ta-dah!!! Trumpets and Heralds :hello2: He is HANDSOME!!
If anyone could have the patience and knowledge to work through the physical and emotional challenges it would be you. Duncan has landed in butter!
That's said, he DOES resemble another, famous, er infamous, B&T angel from this board. Your wild ride may not be over, my friend. :nana:
Awwww Mike - he is so cute ! (He reminds me of my Rudy ) I am thrilled that things are settling down for both of you !
Yeay! Duncan pictures! He is adorable. I love the "long nail" on the fur black stripes. So good to hear things are coming together for you 2. He is one lucky boy, makes me smile!
Glad to see things have turned the corner and are heading for the better!
I know my choc/tan and blue/tan both have the toenail markings on their fur as well...as did Scally, my b/t dobie/shepherd mix.
Aww, what a cutie. And I see he's rockin' the partial up-do (we call one ear flipped the partial up-do, and both ears flipped just the up-do)!
Glad to hear that he is settling in and getting you sorted out. It always amazes me the positions they can get to sleep in and be comfy.

oh he's a cutie!
I'm so glad you decided to keep him.....health concerns and all. He's adorable, and no doubt he has charmed to soul out of you. He's a sweetie, and I look forwards to hearing about his all his good deeds.
He is very cute! So good to hear that things are going well. He looks like a busy boy!
He is surely a keeper! What a cutie, too. Thanks for the pics, loved 'em all.
He is a cute boy just takes time to get the nails short again a little bit at a time ,glad the seizures got stopped he will soon have you trained to do his bidding.
What a handsome pupper. I am so glad things are settling down and he has found his forever home. I can see by the pictures how much transformation has taken place in this boys life in the time he has been with you. He looks so much more relaxed and content in the last few pictures. Welcome to the Wiener Writings family Duncan!
Adorable! My favorite is the tongue and the bobo.
That Duncan looks just adorable! Quite the personality! I love the goofy grins (our Sam does a goofy grin ever so often). What a wonderful thing for him to have such a good home!
Thanks for all the well wishes and support. It seems his body is adjusting the to phenobarbital and his personality (other than being a ravenous fiend) is coming out.
Tuesday night we went to visit his chihooahoooa cousin (no, not named Les Nessman!). Milo was not impressed and repeatedly growled at Duncan. We are cutting him some slack as he was mildly bitten in the neck by another small dog a couple weeks ago. We'll keep up the visits back and forth and are sure he will come around.
Wednesday night Duncan started really getting into playing with the bobo. While playing he also tried to get amorous with 1.) my leg 2.) my arm and 3.) my head....don't ask....
Thursday night: see activity after bobo of Wednesday night. This was the 1st night that we have made it through the whole night in the waterbed. I'm still not back under the covers (brrr) but while he did get down a couple of times in failed attempts to get more food, he came back and plastered himself against me.
Great to hear things are looking up with you and Duncan!!!!!
Am also happy to hear the phenobarbitol is working well.
Yes it is good to use the least amount of it possible so it isn't so hard on their body.
Then they can adjust it up if it needs to over time.
My Zeke was on it from 2 years until age 15 1/2 and seemed to have no big problems with it.
Good Luck to you both and Duncan you have found yourself a very special buddy.
