Poor Mr. oLlIe .......... has a back disc out. (I don't know if I can handle this )
Poor little guy was slinking around this morning and crying, so off to the vet we went. I had to leave him. When the tech called back she said "It is something substantial in his back" and that the vet would show me the xrays and explain when I came back .... pick him up at 5:00. I waited about a half hour and called back ........ told the girl that I couldn't wait until 5:00 to find out what was going on.
The vet said that he has a herniated disc ..... that shows up very well in an xray ........ will probably treat him with anti-inflammatory and pain meds. He didn't mention what might be available to treat MaMa.
Send healing rays our way.
Chin up Mama, caged and rested he will do fine. Our thoughts are with you both. The other O was like that but he has mid hip dyspasia, so bed rest and no time off for good behaviour.
Da gang
Oh, no!! Meds and crate rest work wonders. At least you caught it fast.
Update ....
whatever they want to call it .... slipped, herniated, or just not there disc. Pain meds, anti inflammatory, crate rest for at least 10 days. This may be the cause of the hitch in his geddiup.... but his knees and hips are ok. Poor baby.
I did ask which one of the meds I could take. :dontknow:
Well, think of it this way, Ollie, youse can get breakfast IN BED every day for 10 days. Hmmmmm. What shall it be? Eggs? Cheese? Ham? How about a whole omelet?
Lots of healing rays coming your way, buddy boy.
Ollie, hang in there man and milk it for lots of tasty treats.
Ruth my poison would be a nice shiraz................................

After reading some reviews on Rescue Remedy ........... It might be Rescue Remedy for MaMa.
So sorry Ruth. Is this Ollie's first episode, do you know? You will both get through it, is sucks but you will get there and he'll be just fine!
Since Rescue Remedy is made from flowers do not see a problem with you both chugging some down, can't hurt anything more Rays & Hugs.

The vet seems to think that this might be an old injury , and that oLlIe just tweaked something now.......... but I never did get his medical records as promised.
Don't forget the vitamin C. Winston didn't start really improving until I added the C for him, and then it was uphill very quickly.

Sending bucket loads of rays for Ollie...... keeping good thoughts that crate rest and meds do the trick.... Bless your heart Ruth...he is so lucky to have you...... sounds like some wine is in order for you :comfort: Please keep us posted.....
They didn't send his medical records with him? It would be interesting to see if this has happened before...
Keep up with the tough love, it's so important to keep them resting until their parole, I'm sure he'll be just fine.
Hilde and I are sending rays for you and Mr. Ollie. Here's hoping for a fast recovery. :xfinger:
Ruth - how are things going with Ollie? Is he improving with that nasty crate rest? Hope you aren't crazy yet !

Hello everyone,

Ollie is doing well. The vet decided that this was an OLD injury (which nobody mentioned when I adopted him)
The vet said to expect Ollie to tweek this every once in a while ...... which he has. A couple days of pain pills and crate rest seem to do the trick. :xfinger:
Sorry to hear it's an old injury that you did not know about, but a tweak is better than a lot of things. Hoping this and any future tweaks get better fast!

I was about to post a note to say this was back in July and that our gorgeous wiry pal has been spotted sunbathing happily in September.
It is good so good to know r&r and the right meds are keeping him well on track. Thank heavens you two found each other. Rotten his previous owners didn't hand over his health record.
Please give him an extra belly rub from us and take a nip of whatever takes your fancy to celebrate what a great twosome you are.
