Title: Does Anyone Else's Pupper Do This!
Post by: Kelly on June 28, 2011, 01:16:15 PM
For the last week or so Molly has been smelling the edge of the floor by the bathroom wall by my Mom's room and today we noticed her scratching the rug under the windows in my room. The more we tell her to stop it ,the more she does it!

might be worth getting pest control in as there maybe something under the floor or in the wall. They have very sensitive noses.

Clifford did that on the deck for 3 months one summer which drove me (and him) crazy.  Turns out Mama 'Possum was raising her youngun's under the deck and Mr C caught 3 of them.  So have someone check out that area.

They use dogs Beagles mainly for smelling out termites, bed bugs may be other things too so if she is that interested either she is smelling or hearing something she may think when you tell her to stop it.She may be taking it as encouragement to get it since dogs do not know the spoken language.Might check it out or show her nothing is there then she might leave it alone? Good luck Hunting.

Porky did that once in our old apartment.  He was constantly digging at the kitchen floor.  I couldn't figure out what was down there until one day I heard him yelp and barking.  Apparently a mouse was sneaking up from under the lineoleum!!  I would have pest control check it out for sure.  Yucky!! Those mice can squeeze through amazingly small spaces.

I agree with the others. Check for a mouse under the house. Schatzi did the same thing in our bathroom. She would run from the bathroom vent to the vent in Meg's room, perk up her ears and sniff like crazy. We finally discovered evidence of a mouse in the back of a closet in the bathroom. She also did the same when a cat kept wanting to hang out under the house. We finally blocked any openings it could get into. It is true-the dachshund's nose is very, rarely wrong. Now, if Schatzi could only catch the moles in our yard!
