It's a good news and bad news situation. The bad news is that the retinal damage is too extensive for Hallie to recover any sight. The good news is that there is NO kidney failure and no organ issues were found. They were not able to determine whether her digestive problems were pancreas related unless she was actually having vomiting etc. Deedee sounded pretty "up" on the phone - considering that this morning she was thinking 6 months to a year and now that sentence has been lifted - she is trying to look positively to the two of them adjusting to a different kind of life together. And with DeeDee and Hallie I have to believe they will make the best of it. (I'm still going to try to get some pictures up later this evening.)
Hallie will adjust to the changes as long as she has Dee Dee beside her. I was heartbroken when I was reading reports earlier, so I, too, feel quite elated right now, I can't wait tonsee pictures!
She is a young dog, but a number of our senior doxies get by pretty well without much sight. Hopefully this will be the case with her!!
Thank you for the news, Rich. With Hallie having DeeDee as a Mom, they will both adjust to a different way of life and I believe that they will both make the best of it. Dee
Thank goodness for the positive news on Hallie's health. Hallie trusts Dee Dee so much, I just know they'll work well together even if Hallie has no remaining sight.
Whooooooooosh. I just let my breath out. DD, you can do this. Hallie will show you how to live in the moment. Live like a d-o-g. Good news about the kidneys and organs. Bless you sweet Hallie BB. Hugs to you DD.
Yes! They will adjust together. Thanks for the update, Rich. Now ... where's the pictures?! We wanna see pictures!
That is good news under the circumstances. Rays and prayers to DD and Hallie.
Much relieved sigh from all around the world. Sorry to hear about the eyes, but they are only a small part of them and I am sure both will adjust to this new chapter in their lives. Up side is she has been given a gooooood makeover.
Rich thanks for the update I think there was a lot of people hanging out there....................waiting.
Hugs and kisses and lots of rays

We are really sorry to hear nothing can be done about her sight but are very relieved to know everything else is fine. What a roller-coaster. Thanks so much for keeping us in the loop. DD and Hallie are so well adjusted to each other anyway they should adapt well to their new situation, hard though it will be, everybody is rooting for them.
So sorry that there is not better news about her sight but we know she will cope with it just fine. Very happy to hear that the kidneys are ok. Now we just have to keep DeeDee thinking positively for the life they can have together. Dogs do so much by smell that Zack who now doesn't see well is just fine. Daddy says he even knows who came in the door by smell.
Merion & the ZZ's
How can they not do well? They have each other :comfort: and Hallie has the best seeing eye mommy EVER !!!! Sending tons of prayers to DeeDee and our Hallie Berry Butt...... love you both !
