Sarge and Duggie have had a busy afternoon and now both are zonked out and snoring away!
Sarge went in today for his Bordetella and nail trim. He is not a happy camper when it comes to going to the vets.....he is a good patient but does not like to go. So, now, we have added a new feature to this is what I'm gonna do at the vets office......in addition to his shaking, trembling BIG TIME (I swear he could mix a milkshake, he shakes so hard and constant) but he hides his face in my armpit (if I can't see them, they can't see me, and he now whines, howls, talks and not quietly! The whines, howls, and talks are something new he started today. Guess he figures if he is obnoxious enough, we'll leave???? So, he got the Bordetella first and then they did his nails and then he was ready to go. Never mind, that I hadn't paid the bill yet......he saw the door and had his nose up against the glass (while still on his leash)! And, the best news is that since his last visit for boosters which was last fall, he has lost 5 pounds. We've been on diets for a long time at our house! We go in monthly for nail trims but don't weigh when we go in each month.
Duggie, was a bit bent out of shape because Sarge got to go for a ride and he had to stay home with Dad. So, when Sarge and I got back, Duggie got his harness on and we went for a walk. He was a happy camper to be out walking and was prancing with his tail going super fast. (This time Sarge stayed with Dad.) On our way back to the house as we came down our road, one of the neighbors had their dog out (on the leash) came running up to Duggie and barking at the same time. I swooped Duggie up because he does not care for strange dogs approaching him directly at his face and while the other dog (who is small) was jumping on my leg, Duggie showed his teeth, protecting his mom. The neighbor got her dog under control and after there was space between us, I put Duggie back down and we continued walking towards home. So, neighbor's dog was barking which Duggie responded to which started two Bassett Hounds barking, and then two other small dogs started barking and then three schnauzers started barking! Duggie did his initial three barks and then took on the attitude, that "I'm not going to waste my barks on you bunch"......off we went, Duggie prancing and his tail a wagging all the way home to the music of barking dogs!
Now they are both crashed and snoring......
Ollie here, I'm with you Sarge, no vet is a good vet, I shake up a storm...............next time I'll try the whine thing, I'll let ya know how it goes. Iz only got one antibiotic left from my last visit.

Busy afternoon is right! It's so nice to see them sleeping because they're tired vs bored. Poor Sarge ... I feel his pain about going to the vet. Drs are no fun! Dugie, you da dude!

Sarge sounds just like my sweet Madderoo. She HATED the vet and would run to the door and have her nose smooshed up against it because she wanted outta there and quick. She also shook like Elvis when she went. It was kind of weird but her last trip to the vet, she didn't shake at all and didn't even look at the door. She knew it was time. :heart:
Bonnie is our li'l Tail Wagger. Of all three of my dachsies of recent years, hers is the tail in constant motion. She also doesn't like other dogs.....period. Will try to take them on, each and every one she sees, with exception of other Dachshunds and the black and tan King Charles across the street and her (Audrey) brother, Edgrrrrrr the Westie. I think Edgrrrr gets a pass because he's paired up with Audrey, whom Bonnie adores!.
