It was a year ago that the girls became "Texas Gals"....but their story started a few months earlier.......
They were Christmas Rescues.... and rescued none too soon. Saved by Andrea, Mary had severe dermititis and Holly was overrun by huge fleas. The girls getting a flea bath as soon as Andrea got them home........

It isn't certain that they are mother and daughter (Holly - mom and Mary - child), but I see so many similarities now that I feel they are. They were dumped at the shelter and had little chance of survival....until their Christmas Angel came along.
I was going to adopt just Mary, but very quickly was convinced by several that they should come as a pair. I am so glad that I brought them both home - they are a very connected pair.
In the beginning, they were both so shy, they probably had never been socialized and both were sickly. Andrea had Mary in a separate bedroom, and she spent most of her days in a kitty snuggle sack..sitting on top of a Snuggle safe disk to stay warm. The snuggle sack had the word C-A-T on it....and Mary was labeled by her Auntie Kim..... Cute.And.Tiny.... and it fit....she weighed only 6 pounds. Holly would mostly hide, and Andrea realized that they would both be much happier being together...in their own bedroom :) No way could the girls be separated now.....so they came to Texas together !
Fast forward to a year later........ I can't believe it has been a year !!! Mary is such a feisty little sprite..... she barks at anything new...people, or things she sees outside, or noises she hears in the back yard. She gets right up to all the other kids and barks in their faces....like SHE is the one in charge !!! LOL - I am surprised no one has snapped at her, but they haven't. I picture the boys just kind of rolling their eyes back in their heads at their mouthy little sister ! Mary doesn't walk anywhere.....she RUNS at warp speed.......and bounces like a rabbit all over the big bed. It is a close race between Mary and Brandy as to who gets in Mom's lap first !!!!
Hollybear has really come out of her shell. She is still the very polite one and waits to be invited on the couch, but as soon as I pat the couch - she is up the ramp and in my lap, or snuggled under the blankie ! She will sit and stare at me and lean her forehead into my face....waiting for the many kisses - it warms my heart. She was HW positive when she came, we did the treatment last April and she is now HW Negative !!!! Holly takes after her big brother Toby...and LOVES to dig. She just won't dig in the are I have designated and prefers to dig in the flowerbed and close to the foundation. Sheesh - most of the time, I make sure I am out there with her - LOL !!!
 I love them both so much, and they have rounded out the Fab Fivey's !!!!
My beautiful girls !!!!
