Considering that any roosters caught up in police raids are automatically slaughtered - they're way too aggressive to ever be socialized - I'd say that was one bird who deserved an honorable mention.
DELANO, Calif. â€" A California man attending a cockfight has died after being stabbed in the leg by a bird that had a knife attached to its own limb.
The Kern County coroner says 35-year-old Jose Luis Ochoa was declared dead at a hospital about two hours after he suffered the injury in neighboring Tulare County on Jan. 30.
An autopsy concluded Ochoa died of an accidental "sharp force injury" to his right calf.
Sheriff's spokesman Ray Pruitt says it's unclear if a delay in seeking medical attention contributed to Ochoa's death. Tulare officials are investigating, and no arrests were made at the cockfight.
Cockfighting is a sport, illegal in the United States, in which specially bred roosters are put into a ring and encouraged to fight until one is incapacitated or killed
Unfortunately cock-fighting is very popular especially in South SLO county and North Santa Barbara County. The Officials, most of the time, have a blind eye to it all. I think this "sport" is rather popular in Kern County where our Julia B lives. Am I right on that, Missy?
Yup - and we're sorry for his death around here (I'm in Kern County), but we're also - for the largest percentage- tired of people thinking they don't have to obey laws and can do as they please! We have folks who don't think they need a driver's license to drive, others who don't think they need car insurance (no wonder our uninsured motorist coverage is staggering), and we always seem to get foreign exchange students who think paying once at a multiplex theater entitles them to sneak into as many different shows as they can manage in a day! :soapbox:
YAAAHHHH! SNACKS AND BELLY RUBS FOR...ahhhh....errrrr...no wait...
ummm
Hope you had a happy birthday! :angel4:

Like you never snuck into a drive-in movie in the trunk of a car????? Oh, that's right - you're too YOUNG to remember the days when you paid per head. :headbang:
