Title: may help others that are itchie human as well
Post by: Roberta on January 30, 2011, 12:06:55 AM
Oliver is very allergic to paspallium grass red ears and skin and footie chewing. /
well at his last vet visit, just to check he did not have a grass seed  in his ear canal, noting but got a anti histamine shot to get him over it.
I am thinking of getting my name on seat at the vets as one of the vets says I'm here everyother week.
Well that aside Jane the vet suggested I try Alpha keri oil. It can be used as a rinse after bath or in Olivers case a capful in 500 mls in a container and I dip his feet in it when he goes out for a walk and when he gets back plus I wipe down his head and ears with it to.
and it does work no more itchies. Also can be put in a spray bottle and misted over them. We got it at the chemist $13 for 500 mls, I've checked and you can get it on line to. Definately worth a try.

down side says ollie is he smells like a girl.

Hahaha!  Tell Ollie that since he probably thinks girls stink anyhow, it saves him the trouble of finding something to roll in!  :2funny:

Great advise, do we have a board to save all of this stuff in topic order?  How handy would it be.  I am definitely saving this info, we go through itchy season in May every year! :thumb:

Poor Ollie itchy skin is no fun. I am definitely trying this! So glad you posted about it. Would this be the right stuff to get?

http://www.amazon.com/Alpha-Keri-Shower-Moisture-236-6/dp/B001KYRNAA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1296429185&sr=8-1

LOL Ollie, if you could have smelled Hallie yesterday you would love to smell like a "girl", she rolled in both bird pooh and dead earthworm! Yum.  We definitely think your Mum should have a chair at the vets maybe one of those director chairs with her name embroidered on the back.  :2funny:

I phoned the company and they say what you have over there may be a diffrent formulation. This an oil not a lotion. Might be worth a call to the company re formula.

Thanks for going to all that trouble Roberta! Do you have your bottle handy? This is what I found for ingredients.

Ingredients Mineral Oil, Peg-4 Dilaurate, Lanolin Oil, Fragrance, Benzophenone-3, Green 6.

On the link you posted, it says the active ingredients are Mineral Oil and Lanolin Oil but doesn't list the rest. I'd be curious what it says on your bottle, I can compare with ones I find here. Thanks!!!!!!!
Extra huggies to the kids.

For humans it says After shower:when still wet, gently rub 10-20 mls over the entire body with a sponge or washcloth. or spongebath 10-20 mls in 500mls of water and gentley rub all over (which is what we use with Ollie)

Well pooh, I tried to order from the link you posted but overseas shipping is almost $50! I'll do what you suggested and send the ingredients of yours to the company to see if they have the same thing.

Maybe this will help Willy with his summer itchies, he seems to be allergic to anything green.

Awesome thanks Roberta! It's strange the same product would have different formulas in different countries? I will keep searching here also. Patty I'll bet it would help Willy also, I remember you saying he is allergic to grass, etc.

That's ever so kind of you, Roberta, we would really appreciate it. We are so out in the sticks here and around 50 years behind the rest of Europe. Will keep looking here and on the internet too. The chemists have never heard of it and my dermatologist neither..

Thanks for looking up that link Marcia! I found the parent site for Keri in Australia and have sent them an email for their complete ingredient list. Hopefully it will match with the ones we have over here and will be easier to get that to have poor Auntie Roberta and the kids packing them up for us!  Hopefully we can find some in Spain too!

LOL Karen that is the best commercial! "I'm on a horse!"
Have you seen the new one..."Swan Dive!"

Yes I started to look at the ingredient sof the advanced and it does look interesting similar.
On postage it would be $13, if it does not work out but Ill have to work on the seal on the bottle

That's a whole lot better than $50! Thanks so much for checking Roberta. I had Hallie at the vet yesterday so asked her and she said she always recommends either Keri Lotion or Skin so Soft to people. So apparently what we have here will work ok too! I'll pick some up and try it at least we know it won't hurt her which was my main concern. She said the only down side to it is it's oily, did you notice that when you mist him? I will probably try the misting unless it's time for her baff anyway because she won't like getting tub dipped every day LOL. She's not real itchy right now but once spring hits she will be biting her feet so I'll try soaking her feet in it too like you do with Mr. O. Thanks Auntie R glad you brought this up and that it has helped Ollie!

thats good news, yes its oily but not excessive sort of reminds me of conditioner and it does seem to sisappear into the hair. In other words he  did not look like the fonz look.

The fonz look would look great on Oliver!

I just got this email from the Keri company in Australia. Doesn't it seem odd they can hide their ingredients list??

Thank you for your inquiry regarding the above named product. Due to commercial in confidence reasons we are unable to provide a full ingredient listing for this product. We can assure you that as part of the product’s assessment for registration with the Australian TGA the ingredients used have been assessed for safety for use in a topical medicine.  However if there is a particular ingredient that you have a concern about I can confirm or deny its presence in the product.

Dear McDonald's: Would you please send me a copy of the ingredients in your secret sauce? Thank you, Auntie Keren

Dear Auntie Keren: Thanks for asking, but we're not telling. Love ya - McDonald's
