For the first time since 1963, Greenville, SC is having a white Christmas. It is beautiful! The snow didn't start until mid afternoon and the roads didn't start getting slushly and slippery until about 9:30, so everyone was able to still do most of the usual family stuff (in Greenville, you do NOT want to drive on slippery roads-not enough experience here). Tomorrow should be a beautiful day!
The only downside to it all-Meghan, after 26 years of wanting a white Christmas because she had plenty of time to enjoy it, was supposed to go home tomorrow evening and back to work on Monday. It looks like that will not be happening, and she will survive, it just makes it a little stressful. But....we have her home an extra night!
The storm missed us by about 50 to 60 miles. We may see a couple of inches, but that is all. It is darn cold, though!
WOOT - that is awesome !
Here are a few pictures of Schatzi the morning after Christmas. She did not care for the snow. In the first picture, she is heading right back up the ramp as soon as I set her down in the snow! After that I took her out in the middle of the yard and got a few shots. The other pics are of the house across from us, which is always so beautiful in the snow, and some snow on the Leland cypress in the front yard.
How beautiful. Enjoy it while it lasts.
OMG - the pictures are beautiful !!! I can hear Schatzi muttering...."Ummm DAD...why haven't you cleaned off my ramp ???? "
Kathleen- It was beautiful, but was pretty much gone by mid-morning Monday. There was still some in the shady spots around, but that was it. I think we are all ready around here to have a snow that will stay around for two or three days, just to watch the kids play in it for more than a few hours. There is something about a few days of snow covered mittens and hats and jackets in the house that make you know it has REALLY snowed!
Barb-We were wondering why Schatzi wouldn't go out, other than the snow on the ground and realized the snow was covering her ramp. Not long after I took these pictures, most of it had melted off and she had a few areas in the backyard she would go, if she absolutely had to. I would also just put her on her leash and take her out where there were some clear spots. It seemed much easier that way!
Just gorgeous! Good girl Schatzi for making do (doo doo?) in the snow. I can see a red cardinal sitting on that branch with the snow in the last picture. Great photos!
Schatzi and the Zs must have a common ancestor somewhere. The Zs will NOT go out in the snow on their own accord!
