Would like this information to put in my letter to hubby or anyone if something were to happen to me, I know hubby will not take care of Patches. Oh he would feed her give her water then that would be it no grooming,no shots,no butt squeeze,no nails either no vet care plus he would not give her her heartworm medication we live in OK we have allot of Mosquitoes here so heart worm meds are a must.I know that DRN would find her a good home with all the care needed. Since my kids moved to an apartment after Diesel do not think they would want another dog. Thanks for the info.Papbouv Rather have it all written down in Patches best interest Buddy's breed has to take himin her contract so do not have to worry abou him.
Which foster did you adopt from at DRNA? It depends on who you adopted from. Just check DRNA's website and see if you can find the foster on the adoptable dogs, they always add their e-mail address. You can contact him/her and ask for information on how to place them on your will.
:thumb: I was so lucky to have Auntie Marcia step up for Merlin and Beau, and I'm sure that someone here on the board will volunteer to take Patches if anything happens to you. They should stay together as a bonded pair if at all possible.

It is so important to have instructions written down. Were you able to get hold of DRNA?
First Patches was never in rescue bought her from a backyard breeder ( yes know that was a No-NO but they were friends of my DIL's brother). I have had Patches since she was 16 weeks old Buddy & Patches maybe bonded but you have to remember Buddy is a 88# Doberman.Buddy's breeder has it in her contract if for any reason I can no longer care for Buddy he is to go back to her.Since I'm a diabetic and have other health problems just wanted to write down how to contact DRN so if something were to happen she would go to a place the screens adopters really well. I would not want hubby or son to give her away to anyone since they would not know to screen for certain things. papbouv
I'll foster Patches.
While Im not currently a full member of DRNA right now I am a registered foster for them.
Membership or not I have friends in DRNA and I'll foster him and see to it that she's loved and well cared for until I or another member find a good home for her. Any time a dog is surrendered to a rescue the first question is....who will foster the dog? You have to have foster space...that's my job for sure.
The real problem will be getting Patches to me. If the people on your end will work with me, I will work with them. We'll get him to Tennessee one way or another.
As far as being a bonded pair....hmmm...that something you should a do a little research on. The Whole Dog Journal had a really good article on that not too long ago. We've gotten dogs who's owners insisted the dogs were bonded only to find out that they did just fine without each other. Bonded dogs don't do well without the other dog.
You have a PM in your in-box.
:apls: JetEd !!! I know this will be a huge weight off Papbouv's mind.......

Bless you, JetEd, you really are an angel in (a very little) disguise.
Awww, that's really wonderful of you, JetEd and very smart of YOU, Papbouv for making the effort to have a plan in place just in case.
Fostering is a reward in and of itself
I've had the opportunity to spend time with and get to know more dogs than most people do in a life time. Each foster has their own little personality. Really I think every one who can foster should foster.
Hopefully Papbouv and Patches will have a lot of time together but just in case I'll be here to help...Sorry papbouv...I don't foster humans. LOL
As I said in my reply as far as I know I'm not going any where so I should have Patches yet a good long time. I think one should write down what they would like done for their pets if something were to happen to the owner you just never know. It boils down to when your number is up it is up one never knows how long they have. As a responsible pet person I want it to be know I do not want my pets dumped at the Animal Shelter. I have witten letters have them in my filing cabinets that it is in the contract when I purchased Buddy he is to go back to his breeder if I can no longer care for him.Everyone should have a plan in place I would think. Heck I carry a card in my billfold I have pets at my house in case I'm in an accident yes I guess I'm over cautious.
