Hi,
My name is Jacqueline, and we just adopted an 11 month old mini doxy named Taffy. Her former owner surrendered her to our local animal control, and I was lucky enough to get there in time to bring her home. She's a real sweetheart, and just made herself at home immediately.
We live in Ft. Myers, Fl, home of the hurricanes, lol. I also have 5 birds,..3 cockatiels - Joey, Ying and Yang...a half naked Quaker who is a rescue, and a very strict Senegal named Caesar. Caesar is our alpha pet....and he lets everyone know it. Poor Taffy wants so much to play with him, and Caesar does NOT PLAY. He does watch her, tho, and appears to find her amusing.
Taffy is almost perfectly housebroken.....but we keep a close eye on her, and my living room carpet. She seems to think those flowers mean it's really the great outdoors. When she comes in from outside, she rushes thru the house, leaps on the couch, and somehow manages to land tummy rub for belly rubs. I don't want to say she is spoiled, but..... :wink:
We have taken her shopping, and she loves her carrier. I suspect she likes the rocking effect from my walking with it hanging from my shoulder. Everyone just has to talk to her, and she is really good about not barking at other pets. I bought clickers today, being under the impression I can actually clicker train her without having to go to obedience school for weeks. Wish me luck :pray:

Welcome to the Wiener Writing board. Pictures are always welcomed along stories of your furkid. I am owned by Clifford who is 11.5 years old. We live in Oswego, IL which is 45 miles west of Chicago.
One word of warning about dachshunds. They are hunters by breeding. If Taffy gets the chance to "play" with your birds, she will do what comes natural to her.....
Hello and welcome, you'll love the many great people here on this board. I second Mike's thoughts on the hunting. My 2 have killed several birds, all the while my cat, still can't figure out how they do it! :crazyeyes:

I am in Clearwater Florida...almost neighbors. I'm owned by three dachsies. Buelah , my long haired black and tan girl. Oscy and Toby my smooth red boys.
