as per her doctor. We went this afternoon, and it wasn't easy for me to get her there, since I had wrenched my back on Monday. Dr. McGraw found a very tender spot on her back, but blood test was fine, and the x-rays which I saw, didn't show anything that would make one think disc issues. She had her usual appetite all week, but had been moving sluggishly, wagging her tail, having an accident here and there - which I attributed to her not getting outside quickly enough. Tonight, I put on a Therma-Care patch, let it start warming my back, then gritted my teeth and enticed her into a crate and off we went. She now has Tramadol, Prednisone, and Cimetidine for just over three weeks, with tapering doses on the usual. We could both use some powerful dachsie rays. Luckily, one of the vet techs brought her and the crate out to the car for me!
Rays & lite hugs to you both get well soon.
Mebbe you should take some of HER stuff! (kidding)
Hope you BOTH feel better real soon.
Oh no Julia! When it rains, it pours. It's hard enough to care for a crate resting baby without having your own back out. Many prayers and rays coming from us up north too please keep us posted on how you 2 are getting on.
Gosh Julia - it sounds like you need all those meds too.... Sending tons of rayz for you both ! :comfort:
Yikes, rays heading down from Canada for both of you. Let's home next week is a better week. Take care. Kelly and Parker
I'm sorry to hear about Rowan. Don't you wish that crate (or rather, bed) rest was indicated for you as well? Sending plenty of rayz for both of you.
Rays are coming your way......for both of you!!
Thanks, everyone! I see I forgot to say Rowan (aka Ro-Ro) is on crate rest for 4 weeks.
Rowan gets Rescue Remedy Mom can have some wine rays & hugs to you both may he get well soon.
I did get the idea to use my plant stand on casters, to help me move her crate through the house. It's a lot easier to lift it up and set it on the plant stand, than to lift it up and carry it!
Rays to you and to Rowan.
Sorry to hear about both back problems, Julia. Hilde and I are sending some nice southern comfort and healing rays for you and the Rowan.
Darcel
We hope that 4 weeks goes by quickly Julia and that your back is on the mend much more quickly than that - get some heat pads. Rays coming your way xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
It really is tough that their sentence has to be so long...if only you could tell her it's for her own good. Is she being a good patient? How is your back?
Thanks for more rays! Rowan is a very good patient - most of the time when we come in from potty break, she walks right into her crate. (My new afternoon "treat" is to put a Therma-Care wrap on my waist so the heat disks are on the spot. They do keep working more than 8 hours, btw. I know you're not supposed to sleep in them, but I have been - and this one that I put on at 4:20 yesterday still has a bit of warmth!) She takes her medicine like a trooper, and would definitely like to explore more yard when she's out, but she hears "C'mon, Rowan" and meekly comes on her leash with me.
What a good girl, you both are being very good patients! It does help a lot when they cooperate. Hope the jail time goes fast for the both of you Murphy's Law sure kicked into gear for this one!
Hope both of you are healing up.... I tell ya - when they are on crate rest - a stroller is wonderful !!! They can go with you everywhere and not have to be moved alot !!! Keep us posted !
