My dad was just dianosed. This is all we need after losing mom to cancer in May. Dad had a bone scan and a CAT scan, the cancer has NOT spread. He has been started on hormone therapy injections. We are hopeful.
I'm sorry to read this Patty. Thankfully no experience in my family. Rays coming for your dad and your family as well.
My brother was diagnosed with prostate cancer in August of this year. He is now scheduled for surgery the end of this month. Rays coming for your Dad and the family. dee
Thank you Mike, Dee and Dave!!!
Patty, When my dad had prostate cancer, they did surgery to remove the prostate and that was all they had to do. His had not spread, either, and it has been five years now and he is great. I'm so glad the scans were clear on your dad. That is the best news he could have received!
Patty, my b-i-l's father was diagnoised prostrate cancer in his eighties, and he lived to be 90. So there is a lot they can do. Just keep the faith. :bandaid:

I am so sorry to hear this, Patty, but know it need not be as terrible as it sounds. We really hope it turns out to be easily resolved for your father.
My Dad was diagnosed in his sixties, the cancer had not spread, he had the prostate "blasted" to reduce the size and died at 84 in 2006 due to dreadful negligence of his GP and hospital in the UK and too late diagnosis of his broken spine - nothing to do with the prostate at all. A friend of ours in his sixties was diagnosed in his fifties and had the prostate removed and is still fine. My FIL was diagnosed at 70 and had no treatment at all and died at 82 from pneumonia.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all and our best dachsie rays for a smooth and fast clear bill of health.
I'm sorry to hear this Patty. My Dad also had it, had it removed with no treatment and died from something else. It's such a common cancer! Prayers to you and your Dad that he will breeze right through this.
No experience with this but I wish fine things for your dad, you and all the family. Sounds like folks who have posted have some real encouraging thoughts on this.
Thanks everyone for your input.
