I'm with you, Leslie! I've almost been afraid to check on here today, so scared I'll read something I don't want to about King Sol. I left Sue a message on Facebook, too, and she hasn't responded there. Maybe she has Sol at the vet and they are treating him there...at least that is what I'm hoping for.

Thank you all for worrying!!!
This morning Sol stopped panting, and took a few steps.  I was really hopeful when I called the vet.  She said that his condition is treatable, it may take a while to find the right medication dosage.  If he is receptive, there is no need to put a time limit on his life.  He seems to be - he ate tonight and kept it down.  And the fact that he is not panting anymore is a HUGE relief.  We are moving to a house with a huge fenced in yard the end of this month, and one of the reasons we chose that house is for Sol - I hope he is better and can enjoy.
For now, we will take it a day at a time, as long as he improves a bit each day we can handle it.  I gave in today and let him AND SBD sleep on the big bed while we were at work (usually they are kenneled during the day) and they both behaved and did just fine.
So, now it is 48 hours after the whole ordeal started, and his breathing is almost normal.  The vet said there is a good chance the meds will shrink his heart a bit, and one of the drugs gets rid of the fluid.  I don't see him running any races any time soon - but he did snap at Kirby when he got in his face earlier.  LOL.  Of course Kirby went back for more.

Thank you again - I truly can't imagine not having the support of this great board!

We'll keep those rays and prayers coming!!  I let out a sigh of relief as I read your post and that King Sol is improving.  He is the King.....so he doesn't need to run any races.....King Sol can lay back and direct his Kingdom of Doxies and their hoomans from his throne!!  Hugs to you all......Dee

Randy asked me earlier, for the second time, if there was any news on King Sol. He is one of the doxie's whose name he actually remembers! I'm so glad he is eating and keeping it down and especially that he has stopped panting. It's also great that you have found a house with a big fenced in yard. Both Sol and Kirby will enjoy that. If nothing else, Sol will point out the squirrels and send Kirby after them! It's all part of being King!

Boy, you check out for a couple of days and everything happens.  Major rays heading Sol's way.   I was actually down in your neck of the woods over the weekend in Norfolk.

If I recall correctly, Jeri & Kevin's Leopold-angel (Poldie) had an enlarged heart and lived with it for quite some time.

So glad to hear the king fairs well.

BUT!! Please "Learn from my fail" and keep the two seperated until Sol is really out of the woods.  He's too big and too powerful -- even when sick -- to risk a potential disaster.  Not to make this post about me, but I am certain that Loki's general condition: hearing loss, loss of vision, general arthritis, on-going heart murmer, age, and mental state each played a huge factor into her attack on Zuzu.  The nerve injury to my hand and wrist took three full months to heal and I still get a twinge now and again when I put a sleeve over my hand.

Please please keep them in their normal routine, which is expected and calming to them. That's the whole reason I crate train, so that if they need to be seperated, and/or crated, it's no big deal.

Keep us up to date, the medications WILL really help!

Sending more HHHH's & PPPPP's for Sol.
The one important thing that Deb was told for Bosco was to make sure the medications are given when they are supposed to be.

We all know that Sol will be here for a long time to come with all the DC prayers etc.
