Venting so mad why do not people follow the law there is a leash law in the city of Tulsa OK. Having problems with my Blood Sugars being too high so trying to walk around the block. With my physical problems I can walk around the block and that is about it, tonight I put Patches in the house thank goodness. I just took Buddy since it was getting close to dark go on the next street over this old obese black Lab loose no collar no leash.Kids playing one kid yells the dog will attack other dogs it was already charging Buddy so I gave Buddy some of his leash to be able to defend his self.Kid tries to grab the dog I pull Buddy back that happens 2-3 times.Kids are screaming dogs are fighting off & on (No Parents anywhere???) A bigger kid or a small woman could not tell in the light picks the dog up takes off towards the house we leave.
Bad situation the dog could have bit a kid being reactive with the fighting going on I was going to pop the dog with the end of my 6 ft leather leash, kid kept getting in the way but it did back the dog off of Buddy. I said why doesn't that dog have a collar on they said it keeps chewing it off ??? Well that did not help my Blood sugar any need to be able to defend my dog that make twice now Buddy has been attacked makes me feel really bad. Each time kids have been in the way trying to get the other dogs neither had collars on. Seems funny my dogs have worn collars for years and years with no problems. If I walk tonight taking the air horn and my cane I will hit the other dog with my cane most likely will bend my cane all to hell. I just have no idea what I can do thanks for letting me vent just glad I had Patches at home had thought about taking her and leaving Buddy at home.Going to start wearing my very Loud Dog Whistle all the time.Might help get some adults out of the houses???
Whew, another experience for Buddy, glad you're safe. If that dog is at that situation and being threat for others, you should report it.
That makes me so mad I hate it when people let their dogs run loose especially one known to attack. The frustrating thing is if Buddy had accidentally bit a kid while trying to defend himself you would have had a huge mess on your hands. I am glad Buddy (and you) is ok. And that you happened to leave Patches at home.
That pisses me off too! In our old neighborhood I couldn't take Willy and Alex out for walks due to several large loose dogs roaming around. One time I was walking Willy, on leash. Went by this house where three adults were in the yard talking. Their big dog came at Willy and I tried kicking the big dog away. One guy had the gall to say "its not a good idea to kick that dog." And I said "well then get your dog out of my face, my dog is on a leash!" The route Willy and I were on was a dead-end so we had to come back the same way. I was ready.....you know, make my day! The people were still in the yard but the dog wasn't. I was just ready for them to say something to me, but they didn't. I started carrying pepper spray. Dan said that was better than carrying a stick because then no one could say that I touched their dog when it came at us.
I would carry that dog whistle AND air horn, something that will make a lot of racket. You need to be able to defend yourself and your dog.
Patty did you ever use the pepper spray ? did it work.I had some a dog spared with Buddy wanted to fight but was freaked out Buddy had his back pack on so all they did is stand on their hind legs and snarl at each other ? I tried to spray my pepper spray all it did was dribble out??? Was very unhappy it did not work cost about $20.00 too.Glad Buddy is big enough to take care of himself but hate it when it happens my pack leader status goes down hill. Pack leader is suppose to protect the pack, I have failed 3 times now if you count the sparing time.Oklahoma is so darn windy so sorta scared to use pepper spray if I buy the pepper spray & the wet wipes that go with it its over $50.00 so may just use my cane. Darn people should obey the law its not that hard I do it.
