Title: Bonnie needs a home
Post by: Dee Dee and Hallie on September 18, 2010, 04:07:38 PM
A lady just stopped Hallie and I on our walk at the park and said she is looking to rehome her 6 yr old female smooth chocolate dapple doxie with one blue eye. She is purebred but she never sent her papers in so is not registered. She has too many dogs and this one gets pushed away by her pug and doesn't get enough attention. She is housebroken although she did pee at her daughters apartment it sounds like a marking thing maybe. She is nervous with small kids, but is good with other dogs and no bad habits. She would like to find her a home either alone or with one other dog so she can get the attention she needs. She said she just requests that whoever gets her will have her teeth cleaned and get her spayed. She got her with the idea of having a few litters to help pay her property taxes  but she didn't end up doing that. She says to a special home only. She wrote all this info down on a piece of paper at the park and when she wrote "rehoming fee is:" it is blank so not sure how much she wants for her. She said she paid $500 for her as a pup.

I have no idea if she'd be willing to ship her or if she would only rehome her locally but I would like to help this little dog out so thouht I'd share, she's in western Washington.

Hope Bonnie can find a great home and not be turned into a puppy factory,Would be nice if the lady would turn her over to a good rescue that way she would get her teeth cleaned, she would get spayed and she would go to a home that was checked out first.Of course the lady would not get a re-home fee.
Sending rays and good wishes to Bonnie.

Boy, they apparently haven't heard about how expensive this process is.  I never believed exactly HOW expensive until I had my own, but   :chairfall:  on the idea of making money.   :2funny:

I must say, the heading in your post startled me.  Not MY Bonnie!  :doah:

Hope this Bonnie does find a good home.  Sounds like a rescue might be best for this little one.  Breed to pay the property tax?  I must admit, that's a new one.   :idiot:

Some who breed think you can make monies breeding puppies all they care about is monies nothing about the parents of the pups or the pups themselves. Those who do it right know better puppies are expensive to have and allot of work.

Should anything happen to me, my dogs will go to DRNA. I"m certain thats their best chance at finding a loving home.

Sorry Sandi that actually crossed my mind when I wrote it LOL I hope no one thought it was your girl!

Unfortunately the lady wouldn't be willing to give her up to rescue, she wants to be in control of what home she goes to, etc. She has had her for 6 years and said she wants to get her numbers down, and Bonnie isn't her favorite dog. :( She did say she wants to be sure she doesn't get turned into a breeder which is why she is requesting whoever gets her gets her spayed....not sure why she isn't doing that herself but I'm guessing $$. She stopped me when she saw Hallie in the stroller, hoping I was in the market for another doxie. I told her I wasn't but offered to help find a home, but good homes are often hard to come by.

If I had more monies myself and did not live so far away I would take her Buddy is OK around girls just not boys. Here in Tulsa we have spay & neuter Clinic you only pay what your income is so I bet you have something like that where you live too. My DIL got there dog Stormie spay here think it was about $40.00 vets are ridiculous on there spay & neuter prices $125.00- $500.00 if you call all of them in the phone book you get so many different prices it is crazy. Most vets now days do not care about the animals just their pocket books. I called around to find a place to get Patches teeth cleaned prices all over the places on that too. Will get off my soap box now.
