Title: New favorite snack
Post by: Marcia from MI on September 16, 2010, 04:00:06 PM
Mama bought me something new to eat as a snack today, she says they are sweet potato sticks, but to me they look like carrots.  They are vewy tasty and dey are sweet.  Oh yeah I learned to catch my toys in my mouth when mama throws it to me.

Marcia here:  Te last couple of times that I've bought Danni baby carrots they've turned slimy after two days and had to be pitched, so when I went shopping today I thought I'd try to find regular carrots for her, but they had a package of raw sweet potato sticks on sale so I bought them AND Danni loves them, so do I.  So I guess we have a new treat in the house.

As for Danni catching the toys, she sure can, two out of three tries she does ir and is so proud about it, but the stuffies are multiplying very fast and none I am happy to say are destuffed.

DD the dust is something I've used and I called the company about the dogs licking it and was told that it won't harm them.  The dust is actually shells from some sea creatures and when a flea eats it the protective coating on their backs is destroyed and they die.  After I used it we never has a flea again.

Yum! Is this a treat for doggies or peoples? We got the doggie ones for Hallie but it was so gummy she couldn't chew it it got stuck in her teef (she has a very delicate mandible  :angel4:) but she loved the taste. How old is Danni now?

Interesting about the dust, it is the same then that I used years ago, I've never had to treat for fleas since Hallie's first flea bath when I brought her home, she was crawling with them I don't know why she doesn't get them anymore. But I won't complain! I'm wondering how it helps with tummy's??

DD these are potato sticks for people.  I tried something with the boys like you gave Hallie and I threw it out because Eddie couldn't chew it.  The sticks are just like the carrot sticks you get in a veggie party tray, but I'm going to try to make them myself since I know Danni likes them.  Danni will be turning 15 months old on 9/24/10.

Marcia, I LOVE sweet potatoes and am going to start looking for these for myself! Hopefully, Schatzi will think they are great, too. Let me know if you come up with a way to make them and keep them fresh. Where did you find them? Regular grocery store or somewhere like Whole Foods or Earth Fare?

I found them in the produce department where they have the already cut up veggies.  I think that pealing a sweet potato and then cutting it up in whatever  form you like would work, then putting them in ziploc bags would keep them fresh.  In our house they won't last long because both Danni and I love raw veggies.

Oh wow - they sound yummy !!!!  Since there is a pumpkin (canned) shortage - I have tried to give sweet potatoes now and again - but it is a pain to bake them and use up before they go bad.  This would be perfect !  I will have to check !

Nosy me - what kind of powder are you talking about?  DE powder?

I just cut up a sweet potato and had a little shadow waiting at my feet in case I dropped something.
