I was cleaning the Zs ears and brushing their teeth tonight. Zora was the first "victim". She tends to be very difficult, but almost always begrudgingly submits to the "treatment". As I finished up with Zora, I called Zeke in. Zeke just sat in the doorway, tail tucked between his legs to the point where it was touching his belly. Each time I called him, I could see the tail wag...even in the fully tucked position as it went back and forth across his belly. I've seen plenty of dachsies tuck in their tails, but this was the first time I've seen any dachshund wag his tail while tucked in.
I eventually had to pick Zeke up and bring him into the bathroom, but he emerged with clean ears and teeth, and both got treats for being good about.
Aw! Such a good daddy to the "poor put upon hounds".

Murphy just tucks his tail so tight you can hardly tell he has one. The longhairs sometimes quiver when they have their tail tucked so it LOOKS like they're wagging, but I don't think they actually ARE. I think Zeke might just be in a class of his own!
