Junebug has aspiration pneumonia and has been ill for awhile now. She's in the hospital today in an oxygen chamber. I sure would appreciate some rays for her. She's four weeks today, and really struggling.
Oh Kathleen you and little Junebug are in our thoughts and prayers. Tris and Ivy send their strongest doxie rays xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
all the strongest rays we can rustle up are heading your pretty little girls way. Prayers for her to get well and strong quickly and for her two worried Mummies too.
Oh Kathleen, we will send all the rays we can muster up to Junebug and the family. Just hearing about Junebug brings back the months of June and July for us with Earl-Angel when he was struggling with aspiration pneumonia. He, too, spent many days and nights at the hospital in an oxygen chamber. We'll say extra prayers for her! And, the boys are sending their doxie rays that Junebug will win this battle.

The Zs send their rays Junebug's way.
Thanks everyone. I think the rays are starting to take effect . I brought Junebug home last night, rented some oxygen tanks and have been giving her a new antibiotic that's more targeted at respiratory infections. My vet has never given it to a puppy under six weeks, so she was very concerned, but I'm giving her yogurt and a/d mixed to try to keep her digestive system healthy and she's had a very good day today. Only one "attack" (she kept stopping breathing when the phlegm would get caught in her throat and she didn't know how to cough yet so couldn't move it-she started to caugh this morning, finally) since 3:30 this morning, and she's been breathing easier with not as much wheezing.
I don't think it's megaesophagus, though I wouldn't ever completely rule it out this early. She was the puppy that was caught backward in Millie's birth canal with her butt end hanging out for anywhere from 10-15 minutes. She likely inhaled a lot of birthing fluid and she's wheezed since birth, but it was lightening up as she got older. However, about one and a half weeks ago, she must have inhaled either some milk or some of the puppy mush I was feeding them, and that exacerbated the existing problem and caused the pneumonia. The x-rays only show a little corner of congestion in her right lung, but because she couldn't cough, she wasn't able to deal with even that small amount. The prognosis in a pup this young isn't very good, but she started out very strong, so the vets are hopeful for her.
More rays for Junebug! Hang TUFF li'l grrrrrrl!
if you can i would take maybe two fingers lightly tap on the area where the lungs are they do it on people helps move the congestion around so they can cough it up since she is just learning to cough I would ask the vet about it first of course. There is a name for it but I can't remember what it is called. Also a vaporizer might help I'm sure your vet already told you what you need to do also they have Nutri Cal its in like a tooth paste tube its been around for ever some thing that helps with nutrition on ill pups/dogs. Sending more rays to baby Junebug hope she will get better soon. papbouv
I am so relieved to be reading she has learned to cough. That is some of the best news yet. Hopefully that will be the last thing she needs to kick this. Praying and sending rays that you both are getting some good sleep soon.
How is little Junebug doing now????? Better I hope.!!!!
Thank you so much everyone, for the rays. She is noticeably improving. She still has the occasional attack, but she's playing with her sisters, eating, wheezing less and is just all around much brighter. She's lost some weight from her battle (Luckily she started out pretty chubby, so she had some to lose), and she's smaller than Tango now in weight, but I think she's on the road to recovery. She could always relapse, but I'm feeling good enough about it to worm her last night and tonight, which I wouldn't have done Friday night when she was due.
That is such great news!!! Tough little cookie, JuneBug! :hello2:
Thank you so much for the up date was worrying about the little bug.Going to send more Rays & Hugs can't hurt.Papbouv,Buddy & Patches
