Title: Chopped toes and bully sticks
Post by: Marcia from MI on September 08, 2010, 09:16:15 AM
Today I took Danni to the groomer to get her nails trimmed, Danni says toes chopped.  Anyway she was such a good girl that I bought her a bully stick as her Wednesday treat and she couldn't wait to get home to eat it.  Well, we are home now and Danni is walking around the house, with the bully stick in her mouth whining.  Every so often she will hide it somewhere that she is sure the cats won't find it, but then goes to find it and walks around again to find a better hiding place.  The funniest part is that she will walk past Snickers, who is sound asleep, look at her to make sure she isn't watching and go off on her quest again.  Now she is behind me on the couch, trying to hide the stick behind the cushion.  I love that the fun never quits with Danni.

Winston does that!  And if you DARE to look at him while he's hiding it, he knows he's been found out and will start wandering around again looking for a better place to hide his goodie.

Parker does that too. We had a JRT that used to bury his pigs ear, then dig it up a month later. Once he reburried it in the foot of our bed. A grubby, bug infested, maggoty pig ear. That was a most interesting night. Our JRT was lucky we let him live lol. We kept the bedroom doors closed after that and there were no more ears, raw hides etc ever given to him again.
Parker can get in to the bed so no more worries.

Alas, I gave all my bully stix away.  Annie the dog got most of them and some went to Manny who is a rescue dachsie from Stacey's Foxy Doxy Dachshund Rescue (same place we got Bonnie).  It was just TOO GOOD of a treat when we had both girls and there were quarrels.  Now that Bonnie is an only dog, maybe I'll try it again.  Bonnie is the least food motivated dachsie I've ever had.  She picks at her meals (lines the kibbles up and snacks on them one at a time until they're all gone.)  I bet she'd walk around carrying a bully, not quite knowing what to do with it.

We have a treat cube the Madison ADORED.  She would scoot it with her nose and a treat would fall out. She'd scoot that cube from one end of the house to the other. We've been trying to show Bonnie this magic treat box but she just doesn't get it.  She only gets it when mommy rolls the cube and gobbles up the kibble when one falls out.  Silly dogger.  Bonnie and her Staff live here.

That was too cute for Danni and the dachies, still practicing their wild instincts!

Hilde will do the whine and hide with everything but her bully sticks.  They are her all time fav and are never out of her sight.  It is funny when she does try to hide a bone/treat.  She keeps going back to where she stashed it and then will restash somewhere else, etc.  I finally get fed up with all the whining and go get the treat and put it up for later.
