Title: Lumpy Bandit....
Post by: doxielady5569128 on September 07, 2010, 06:05:35 PM
Bandit has had a lump on his tummy for quite some time.  My mom took him in to have it biopsied and checked.  Everything came out just fine.  They told her to keep an eye on it and make sure it didn't get bigger.    It started to get a little bigger a few weeks ago.  She was working on saving up the money for another biopsy, bloodwork, etc... but found 2 more large lumps on him this morning when she woke up.  He has a large one under his eye (looks like he was in a boxing match and lost!!) and another on his throat.   Bandit is spending the night at the vet's office and getting his bloodwork done.  If anything comes out weird they will put him under and biopsy them.  He was in about a month ago and weighed 15 pounds.   Today he weighed in at 12 pounds!!     He is a standard size, so that's pretty tiny for him.   We are pretty worried about our little buddy.  Please keep him and my mom in your prayers.   I'm hoping that its not tumors, but the locations and how quickly they grew indicate that they probably are tumors.

I'll post as soon as I get any news about him.

I have the feeling it's probably just a lumpy lump.  Maddie had a good size one for years on her chest and Dollers had some too.  I don't think Bonnie has any "old lady" bumps yet.  Seems to come with being up in years in a dachsie, I think.

Smooches and rays to Bandit!   How's Porky doing with his llergies?

Oh wow - if he is a standard, 12 lbs is very small !  Sending good thoughts and rayz that the lumps are nothing other than fatty tumors that tend to pop up.... keep us posted.
Title: UPDATE.....
Post by: doxielady5569128 on September 08, 2010, 11:17:31 AM
Last evening the vet dicovered an abscessed tooth in Bandit's mouth.  The abscess was so swollen it caused a lump below his eye that extended all the way to his throat!!!   Poor little guy.  No wonder he quit eating!!     They were very concerned about the size of it and about getting him to eat.   The vet tech sat in the kennel with him last evening and coaxed him to eat on the other side of his mouth.  As he whimpered, she held him and talked to him.  She said as she was holding him he started to cough and then all the pus and blood started draining out of the sore.    They used some suction to keep him from choking on all the stuff and said he was feeling much better.  They were trying to coax him to eat again this morning and I'm sure he'll come home after that.   The other lump on his belly is still just a fatty bump thing.   Now that his mouth is feeling better, he should be able to bulk up a little bit.    He has always been small for a normal sized standard, but 12 pounds is WAY to small for even him.    He's been through a hard life, so I'm glad this was nothing major like originally thought.    Thanks for all the rays and prayers.  They obviously worked wonders!!
