This has turned into a hot story this week. Chuck (who is one of our Couriers at the Lab I work for) lost his beautiful Aussie Shepherd when she bolted out of his truck bed (truck was not in use at the time) because of a loud noise-probably a gunshot. Chuck's truck was on his ranch property.

IN A NUTSHELL
Annie was found. Chuck called into the County Animal Shelter every day. One day, he got a call that his dog had been found. When he came to claim her the next day, he was told that Annie had been adopted out to a new family. * Hence the wildfire story.
The conclusion that most come to after reading is GIVE CHUCK HIS DOG BACK---plain and simple.
Just thought I'd share and let you know that small town America is alive and well in SLO, CA.
*Chuck is an elderly man who knows NOTHING about using a computer so he doesn't own one. That's been a weapon the Shelter has used that they DID notify him by way of posting on their FOUND DOGS page and on Craigs List before he received the call that Annie had been found, but since he is computer illiterate, and does not own a computer, Chuck did not get their messages.
Wow, what a story. I hope the new owners decide to give Annie back to Mr. Hogue. That is the right thing to do. I just can't believe they haven't done it so far. Sure, it won't be easy for them, but I know I couldn't live with myself knowing I was keeping someone else from having their pet of 7 years back at home with them. Keep us updated on this story. It's an interesting one, for sure.
:verdict: This really is a story about the sense of self-entitlement in the United States. That is one family that has lost its sense of right and wrong. I hope Mr. Hogue can look at the situation from the perspective that Annie is in a good home - assuming she is well cared for. The adoption went so fast it's hard to imagine there was much vetting of them.
Karen :dontknow:
When anyone looses a dog calling the pound or SPCA you have to go in person and look at all the dogs the personnel rarely go look at every dog that comes in.
