"The Long and Short of it All" website features Maggie and Joey, two very adorable dachshunds. Joey, at age 9 1/2 has developed Cushing's Disease and has a large tumor on his left adrenal gland. The surgery costs $4,000-7,000. As I always say: YIKES!!
Now their dad, Carson, already pooh-poohed our attempts to help in some small way. So, being the shy, retiring person that I am, I just decided to take the matter in my own hand and put it in Kari and Drew's! (I hope you don't mind.)

Then, after you fall head over heels for this dear sweet, funny senior piebald with the great black and tan head, go to www.paypal.com and make whatever donation you can, and note "Maggie and Joey" in the memo. You can check out the comments on the post for August 6, 2010 (at the bottom in teeny, tiny letters) and follow the posts to see how this played out.

UPDATE: Joey is in surgery this morning (Tueday, 8/17) to remove both adrenal glands and cancerous tumors. Major rays are needed as this is a very difficult surgery. If all goes well, he'll come out with Addison's Disease instead of Cushing's Disease.

:thumb: I know, isn't that one of the best photos you've ever seen? Joey looks inquisitive - "Do I know you?" - and Maggie looks suspicious - "Who are you and why are you using the flashie thingie?".
