Several years ago I worked for an animal rescue group and fostered two dachsies, who never left foster care, Sam and Eddie. I also fostered a beautiful med haired tabby, who was scared of everything. The first few years the kitty formerly known as Skeeter, now known as Snickers, stayed in her room and never ventured out. She had a window with a view of the bird feeder, a great chef and her own litter box away from the boys. Eventually, 5 years later, she ventured out to the kitchen and stayed there, not bothering anyone. Well, a couple months ago she changed her residence and began to sit in the living room and interacting with Danni, she never did that with the boys. Now the miracle, the other evening she jumped on the footstool and tried to get into my lap, but fell off the couch and gave up(she wasn't hurt). Over the last several days she has gotten on the couch and explored everything, including Danni's toys AND this morning as I sat doing paperwork on my laptop, on the couch I looked down and there was Snickers sleeping right next to me, purring her little heart out. I am so amazed it took only 7 years for her to become a lap cat. And the most amazing thing is that Danni lets her cuddle next to me.
Amazing!!! Just goes to show that patience is a virtue. :headbang:
aaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. Just goes to show you that patience, kindness and consistency will cure any fear and mend any heart. Good for Snickers, and good for YOU.
Cats can be amazing! We have 2! Well anyway one my nephew had a cat since he was in kindergarten and the other one a stray adopted us in 2005 and the first cat couldn't stand the other one to be near him.Well when my Mom and I and sister and family moved to the house we're living in now both cats get along sleeping next to each other and eating at the same time.
WOW - that gave me chills - how awesome !
That is so cool! Wonder what got into her! Whatever it was, I hope it sticks what a good girl.
That is really neat, Marcia. Snickers must see good karma in Danni.
