Title: Allergy masks for dogs???
Post by: doxielady5569128 on June 25, 2010, 02:32:21 AM
Anybody know if they make these?  I'm getting desperate trying to find solutions that keep Porky out of the vet's office and off the prednisone.  I'm having to dust daily with wet cloths so I avoid scattering it.  I'm also having to vacuum in the morning and night with our Dyson.  Porky's allergies are jsut crazy this year.  I got to thinking that allergy masks help me a lot when I have flareups so wouldn't they work for dogs too?   :dontknow:   It would be a challenge getting him to keep it on, but if it helps I'm willing to try it at this point.  He's already on round-the-clock allergy meds, fish oil, raw honey, and a vitamin E supplement.    He is having a hard time sleeping at night and keeps getting really panicked when he starts the wheezing.

I´m sorry, I don´t know about allergy masks, poor little Porky, it´s rotten he should have to go through all this - and you too.

I have no idea if it would help you, but I had severe allergic rhinitis problems and asthma for years and got as far as having daily cortisone shots in my eyes to cope with it, as well as inhalers etc.etc.  After over 30 years of suffering I finally met a superb homeopathic specialist by chance who recommended I should try some tiny little homeopathic pastilles 6 times a day (dissolve on the tongue and taste of nothing at all) called Combination H by New Era.  I took them for 6 weeks and have not needed them since and am 48 now!  I damp dust, have wooden floors and hoover every day etc. which keeps asthma attacks at bay (so long as I never, ever go near a CAT) but can even walk in an olive grove in bloom and near cut grass and be in a hay loft - would have killed me in the past.

Our vets here and my aunt who has been a vet in Scotland for over 60 years has used them successfully on dogs before and reckon they can do no harm.  My sister used them for her horse, Mr Softy, since he was allergic to hay and dust too and they enabled him to get completely off allergy meds too.  Maybe you have already tried this route, if not, perhaps it´s worth trying them after checking with your vets if they feel they could be compatible with Porky and his difficulties.

Bless him, little sweetie, hope he is feeling better soon. It must be exhausting for you too.

Here´s a link to one UK shop who sell the pastilles:  http://www.yourhealthfoodstore.co.uk/hayfever/new-era-combination-h-for-hayfever-and-allergic-reactions

Porky went to a Hollistic doctor last year, but we just can't afford this summer.  The massages and reflexology she did on him really seemed to help, but she never mentioned the pastilles before.  I'll have to check with Porky's vet about those and if he okays it, we'll have to try them.   Porky seems to be a little better today as the pollen count is slightly lower today.   :apls:   Thanks for the helpful tip!!!  If nothing else, I'll get those pastilles for my own allergies.

Amourette - if you find them hard to order to be sent to the US I can have some sent from the UK to me in Spain and can post them on to you.  We have found them to be miraculous and it´s great to find something non-invasive and that doesn´t taste yucky at all.  They have been on the market for a long time since I first took them 18 years ago and they were not new to the market even then.  Let me know how you go on and if I can help out.  Snuggle Porky for us too please!
