Note from Our Founder
Dear Friends,
This has been a tough year for my old pooch, Jim, who got fearful, aggressive, weak, fat and incontinent, all in a few months. After many vets insisted he had old-age dementia, we finally discovered he had Atypical Cushing's Disease. It can have shocking symptoms, many of which are treatable. A year later, the cause of the disease, an adrenal tumor, was finally identified accidentally, when he had an ultrasound following a panic attack. After surgery, Jim is back to his old self. Lessons learned? Remember that you know your pet best. Old age can be a factor, but it isn't a diagnosis. Be an advocate and educate yourself about seemingly unrelated symptoms (they may relate). And, get pet insurance. Jim's surgery bill was over $4,000 and most of it is covered.
As ever,
