We had a wild afternoon yesterday with 2 tornadoes touching down in our town and 2 others 60 miles from here. We were lucky and escaped the hail our old town got. They received baseball-golf ball sized hail that damaged many vehicles, businesses, and homes. Also with these storms came high winds that tore the roof off of an apartment complex right by our old townhouse!!! If you look in the background of the first picture you will see our old front door on the townhouse. That was not a tornado causing that damage, just wind!!! :crazyeyes: This is in Scottsbluff, NE.
In our town, Porky and I took cover in the bathtub for a few hours waiting for these wild storms to pass. Luckilly, we had no damge to our apartment or vehicles, but it was very scary. One of the tornadoes got as close as 1/2 mile from our apartment!! That poor trailer park did not fare well. There were no deaths that I know of. It could have been much worse!!! I'm also including a story about a tree that's been in this town for years. It was a casualty of yesterday's storms. We will miss that tree when we go see the fountain. Porky loves it there and always liked looking in that tree for the squirrels who lived in it.

We should have calmer weather today and for the next few days, but we'll check in if it gets crazy again.

We fully intend to stay out of this weather. We are supposed to get severe weather every day from today until Sunday. :doah: I just hope we don't get anything like the other day. :xfinger: Since we live in an upstairs apartment, we plan on taking shelter at the local library's basement/community shelter. (Assuming we have time to get there.) Or we will take refuge in our downstairs neighbors home. We promise to check in often if there is anything major going on. Right now it is just cloudy and gloomy out.
Oh my, please keep safe there all the time. Climate really is changing and becoming more unpredictable..
