Title: Patches new look
Post by: papbouv on April 20, 2010, 09:25:23 PM
Decided to hand strip Patches since i had heard you were not to use clippers on them + a groomer i know told me can't hurt anything since she was spayed early coat already ruined. Thought she might be cooler this summer so had stripping knives left over from the Bouvier's also figured the birds might use the fur for nests?

Patches, you are stunning along with furry slippers. Mum has done a great job on you winter coat leaving you with a fantastic "spring" look.
Amy is running at the rate of knots out of my sight.

Furry slippers hide the too long toenails.

Job very well done on Patches. Its really hot here and I think if Patches is here, she needs more coats off to feel fresher..

She is adorable! Love her new doo. How did she like the stripping?

"Furry slippers hide the too long toenails."

LOL exactly, Hallie's furry slippers do the same, when I got her, her nails were way too long and although I have been able to force them back a little, they will always be too long unless she is put under and nails cut way back and I won't do that to her...so I just keep them as short as I possibly can but longest nails I've ever had on one of my kids and the slippers are a good camo.

She did not mind some of it just pulled with my fingers it was ready to come out some used the stripping knife never really learned how to strip the Bouv's  the breeder would have shown me but she lived in Ill.Patches did not mind it one bit put her on my old short grooming table in the back yard put a chair up beside it did one side then let her down for a bit then did the other side.Had enough fluff for a miniature Dachshund. I decided since these dogs were bred to go to ground they have extra fast growing nails ??? really hate black toenails can not see the quick.
Going for the dental in the morning any extra Dashie Rays would be nice.Papbouv

:meme: While Patches is in for a tune-up, oil and lube, why not get the tires rotated - have them do the nails?  It's worth the exxtra $10-15.

She looks wonderful!  I've been doing Winston every couple days for a month now and he's finally looking less round  :2funny:  And Millie's looking better too-her dead coat was looking really nasty and dry.  Reilly gets those fuzzies on her legs and they never completely go away, even in the summer, but I think they're cute anyway.

:thumb: Yup.  I always had Guinness' toes done while in for his teeth.  I'm afraid to have him put under now that he's 15.
