Due to a job change and some personal issue I am no longer able to fulfill the obligations of a full membership to Dachshund Rescue of North America. So I' stepping my involvement down to that of foster parent. For now it has to be that way, besides fostering is the back bone of rescue work and Im still helping the pups. sad sad sad.
You have been doing a sterling job in rescue and I´m sure you´ll be worth your weight in gold to the fosterings you undertake too. Bless you for caring and for continuing the good work you have so generously begun. Good luck with your new job situation and your private life too - who knows, rescue may become a possibility again further along the line when everything is settled for you again. Take care and keep in touch, we´ll be thinking of you and yours.

Few people have the ability to do rescue, they have the heart but not the ability. I've blown many opportunities, fostering and rescue is one ability and opportunity I didn't blow. Rescue is one of the few things in my life that I have no regrets about. I'd do it all over again exactly the same way. Things will change in the future and I'll be a full member again some day. I'm still doing my part to help by fostering.
i like everyone of my placements. I placed every dog in capable hands, i don't worry about one of them. Miss them yes, worry no. Fostering is also where you get to know the dogs. When they live with you for 2-3 months you get the know the personality of every dog. I've had and still have the unique opportunity to get to know more dogs than most people do in a life time. Of the 15 or so dogs I've had in the house this year, every one was worth keeping for a lifetime. Not a bad one in the bunch.
IMO...the work I did is one of the highlights of my life and the thing I'm most proud of.
Postering...I think everyone should foster at least one dog in there life time. One, just one....at least one.
Foster parenting is critical and needed - Thanks for all you do -
Ed, bless you for all you have done and will continue to do for all the doxie babies out there. You should be very proud of what you have accomplished. You have touched the lives of so many....not only the doxies but also the families who have adopted them. I know because of you that myself, my husband and girlfriend have all become involved in rescue in one form or another and we in turn will recruit others. I thank you for trusting me to conduct my first home visit for you....God Bless and take care! Cheryl
We know deep in your heart the best care and love for those dogs, you will surely be blessed with all you've done in the past. God probably has some new plans for you.. ;)
I agree with everything said (and said so eloquently) here! Please allow me to add my thanks, for all you've done and will continue to do.
