My folks live about 35 miles north and east of Evansville. They got a lot of wind, lightning and rain, and there was some debris in their yard. Friends, a few miles south of them, reported finding a skillet (not theirs) in their yard. Had the tornado NOT veered off to the east, my hometown would have been in danger.
People are wondering why they did not hear the sirens, or, why the sirens did not go off. Mom did sleep through the storm, but Dad, being the worrier, paced from window to window almost all night.
Here in Iowa, it was a surprise to see lightning and hear thunder (with rain) in November. We have had "thundersnow," where, during a heavy snowstorm we will hear thunder. The snowfall is usually so thick we don't see the lightning.
Ozzy raised his head a couple of times during the storms, but he doesn't seem fazed at all.
Glad to hear that your family and friends are OK. We got some nasty rain and wind here in central KY but no funnels this time!
Dang - I missed this - glad they are ok !
