Because this morning at home, when I let the dogs out dog #1 only made #2 and dog #2 only made #1, so we got to outside again so dog #1 could make #1 and dog #2 could make #2.
have missed many an appointment for the same reason. Hard to explain to non-believers sometimes too. Red can take 50+ sniffing circlings to perform #2 if there is any public or disturbance at all....
LOL it's a good thing you don't have dog #3...I don't think they can go #3!
Lily and Max will go out and do their businesses right away. Gabbe will take a little longer, she has to find a secluded spot for #2 (very shy) and Minna has to sniff the entire yard to find the perfect place to do #1 and #2. It is so annoying when I am in a hurry. Everyone else is done and ready to go inside to get a treat for being good puppers, and where is Minna? Out in the yard, doing the 100th sniff pass on the same spots. She takes for ever! And if there is a noise or any sort of distraction, the whole process must begin again. And if she gets frightened by a noise or anything, then she wants to go in and all thoughts of potty are gone - that is until she gets inside and then will go in the corner by the fireplace. LOL!!
This is good to hear I thought I was the only one with a kid who took forever to do his business. Romeo is so slow has to have the perfect spot and sniff every single little thing :BangHead: :cussing: drives me crazy and yes when you are in a hurry forget it LOL LOL. Thanks for sharing.
hugs and love laura and romeo

Oh, yeah many's time I'll be holding the door and say: "And don't be distracted!"
:2funny: I can relate to that!
Been there, too. Hilde is fast on #1, but #2. Sniff here, sniff there, and maybe the 3rd spot will be just the right spot. :xfinger:
Darcel
:director: Lemme tell you hooman from a PUPPER's point of view:
We puppers pee when we gotta pee an' poop when we gotta poop. :dontknow: It' embarasin' us to hab you all talkin' 'bout it. :crybaby2:
Guinness :runaway:
Porky takes forever to go #2!! Its ridiculous how many times he has to circle before he will finally go. Even when he has to go REALLY bad, he'll hold it until he deems that he has done enough circles. :2funny:
:thumb: Let me give you the "Auntie Karen" remedy:
Give your dog a command, somthing you will use every time. I use, "Go make." While Pupper is sniffing, keep repeating "Go make." THE MINUTE Pupper starts to pee or poop, start praising Pupper tons and tons! Then IMMEDIATELY GIVE A TREAT.
Pupper will figure out that the faster he makes, the sooner he gets a treat. And NO TREAT if there's no making!
Happy evacuating!!

Been there in the past, now I don't work hehehe. But if you are trying to get out in a hurry, and you take them out to go "whatever" if Amy has been recently and you ask her to go Girlies, she keeps eye contact and sits and humfs, like "I've been" OLiver goes but, sniffs the whole area watching you, knowing somethings up. Its hard to do the casual, want to go out..............

My neighbors aready think I am insane. Everyday, several times a day I can be heard in the back yard repeating the mantra, "Minna, go tee-tee". LOL!!
There's a reason Dachshund have the reputation for being the dog with A.D.D.
When we first got Kendall-angel, it didn't take me long at all to realize how easily she was distracted. I told Randy she would fit in our family just fine! We all have a touch of ADD, some worse than others. Might as well have a dog that has it, too. I can assure you, Schatzi has not disappointed us! She may have the worse case of the bunch!
While #1 & #2 is easy here in Californy because we keep the back door propped with "Frankie" the Dachshund door stop, (Frankie only has 3 legs but that's another story) we do have the Madderoo to consider. Oh, the joys of an elderly dawg. Missy can't do steps UP anymore, so you have to be there for an assist or get barked at. Well today, when I was at home for lunch The Roo decided she wanted to go out just as I was about to go back to work. She had already been out to do business but it was a pretty day with lots of smells in the air and she wanted out. Well, I put her on the couch when I was leaving and she insisted in jumping down to toddle outside. I just couldn't wait and told her that she'd just have to make it up the steps herself (I always felt that she was milking the "carry me" thing.) Well, (blush with shame), I asked Mark where The Roo was when he got home at 4:45. "Outside", he said. I felt like a heel.
"And barking". Oops. I guess she really isn't faking it. Anyway, it was nice, not too hot. I hope she enjoyed her afternoon in the pretty outdoors. :doah: I didn't have any nasty notes from the neighbors about incessant barking, so maybe she curled up for a nap on the patio.
Patches does #2 first then #1 last ? she is the first dog that has done it that way but she is fast.Buddy likes to wake me up at 2:00am or 3:00am or 4:00am to go out trying to break him of that when everyone goes out at 10:00pm & is told to go potty.
Bwahahahahahaha!
