Title: Things I tell my nephews LOL
Post by: Gail on February 23, 2010, 03:33:44 PM
I like to tell my nephews who are 12 and 13 interesting facts about dachshunds. Here are a small number of examples which are now accepted facts:

Tristan has little whisker pouches on his face so that he can retract his whiskers if he wanted to but he likes how he looks with them out so we seldom see him pull them in. They are a little bit like the mechanism for cats' claws being extended and withdrawn.

When Ivy's ears turn inside out it is a sign that she intends to be naughty. If it is only one ear then no-one has to worry but when both are inside out then people in the vicinity of her should be extra cautious and follow her to see what she does to prevent BAD THINGS (unspecified).

This one is actually true I know....Dachshunds emit a powerful sedative in their scent when they choose to do so in order to render their prey dopy and listless. This is generally done to ensure that the dachshund will remain undisturbed once comfortable on a lap. The doxie-rays are almost immediately effective and humans are powerless to protect themselves again them. When affected a human will not be able to stand up and remove the dachshund so other humans should fetch and carry for the poor human who has been trapped by the rays. Baby dachshund rays are in fact the most powerful sedative in the animal kingdom and research into this is ongoing.

Tristan is a very rare breed of dachshund (which of course means that he is incredibly valuable and we have to be careful he doesn't get stolen) - the lesser ring tailed dachshund. The rings can clearly be seen as bands on his tail and the number of bands relates to his 'quality' as an example of this rare group. He has more rings than have ever been detected before.

Do you think I might not go to heaven? I can't help it, it is so much fun to make up stories for them LOL. Enjoy the new pictures xxxxx

WELL.  If I weren't in danger of perishing from laughter, the sheer concentration of CUTE in your post would surely kill me.
