Here is a new foster I picked up today. His name is Frankie, and he is either a red smooth or a red dapple smooth. He appears to have faint splotches on his back -- you can't really see it in this picture. But one other odd thing -- he has chocolate colored nails, not black. Reds should have black noses and nails. I'm wondering if the nails are dappled, thus the discoloration. Anyway, isn't he handsome?
What a handsome little man! What is his story??
He is a handsome sweet boy !!! You are such a good guy Mack..... :hello2:

What is his story??
I don't know exactly. I got this thirdhand, as Frankie passed through two other individuals before coming to Florida Dachshund Rescue. I gather he and another doxie were being kept outside by a family; a neighbor noticed and volunteered to take the dogs to find them a better home. The neighbor really couldn't keep both so contacted a local all-breed rescue group in West Palm Beach. The lady with that group couldn't foster them long-term as she has about 12 dogs already, so she contacted doxie rescue.
Frankie came with a playmate, a little 8-pound red longhair female named Twinkie, who is being fostered by one of our members in Boynton Beach. I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't want to just spoil these two rotten. Here is a picture of Twinkie:
OH my! They are both adorable! I don't understand why they weren't being spoiled rotten!
Oh my gosh - she is just adorable
OMG! Love at first sight! Twinkie, you are a sweetie!
May I ask how old Princess Twinkie is? Her eyes are speaking to me...
that is not good...
Has she found a forever home yet?
Would she fit in my stocking?
Oh my goodness! What adorable doggies!
Thanks to all who foster these beautiful babies.
They're beautiful! I'm so glad you're helping them on their way to a great new life! :apls:
Mack, they both have such sweet faces. I don't know how you manage to foster. I would never be able to give them up. I really admire those that are able to foster. I know it has to be hard when it is time for them to go to their forever homes. Bless you!
They are both gorgeous; Twinkie has a little puppy face that I love. Thanks for helping them get to their forever homes.
What beautiful :angel4:'s they both are!! Her eyes are gorgeous!! :urock: for helping them along the way to their new homes!!
OMG they are both gorgeous. A couple of lucky puppers to end up with loving rescue :angel4:s. Thanks for taking them in and hope they find a forever loving home soon.
Frankie went to his new home this past Saturday. and he's only about 12 miles from me. His new mom has emailed me every day with an update. He was the toughest one yet to let go because he seemed to fit really well with my own pack. He was the first foster of mine that Hannah didn't try to pick a fight with. I guess she figured she didn't need to, as Frankie was content to be No. 4 in the four-dog pack. He seemed grateful for just a little loving -- he didn't need it all and was content to share.
But you have to make room for more when you foster, and later Wednesday I'm taking in two more -- 5-year-old brothers named Buster and Jack. One may be going to another foster home, but I'll either take are of one or both. One is a black and tan, the other a chocolate and tan. Both smooth. I'll post pics later.
Frankie sounds like a real gem and it's wonderful he has already found a loving home. I applaud you for being a foster mom that is definitely one job I couldn't handle. Thank you for being there for them. I look forward to hearing about your newbie's.
:bravo: You are a true :angel4: to ALL the Fosters you have taken in!
Frankie and Twinkle are just Awwwwdorable! I could spoil them by just lookin' at them.

 sorry. Look forward to the new pics.
Twinkie is a very cute pupper (great name too) and Frankie looks really chipper. Hope all goes well.
so adorable! Thank you so much for what you do. By the way, how is the clean-up going from the hurricane. My Mom and sisters were without power for quite awhile after the storm. They say that there are trees still piled up all over the place. My old neighborhood at Sunset Cove in Plantation lost a lot of foliage, too.
Cleanup is going well as far as downed trees and such. But as you travel through the county, through what was really nice neighborhoods, you see a lot of grotesque tree trunks with bare branches cut off and reaching out -- naked. A lot of folks who lost bits of roof or worse are still using makeshift repairs.
They are both just precious. Why wouldnt anyone want to keep them and spoil them rotten?
Have either of them been adopted yet?
Hey Robbie, I adopted both of those dogs quite a long time ago -- Twinkie was fostered up in Palm Beach County, I believe. Frankie was one of my own fosters and was just a terrific dog. He found a forever home fairly quickly. Mojo is my doxie foster now -- he's also a red smooth.
They are just adorable!! I am in love:  ...So glad you are giving them a loving home! Have they been adopted out yet?
Yes, they were both adopted months ago. I should have made clearer in my previous post that they were adopted out by me to other homes.
