Soooo sweet, all of a sudden Tris has decided that little Ivy can stay. She has been trying to get him to play by bouncing around him since she arrived - he has been a grizzle-puss ignoring and growling at her, however just a few minutes ago he decided to play with her. It does consist of him pinning her to the ground and chasing her at full pelt around the table but both are loving it. Next thing they are lying curled up all together in a ball, it looks like partly a dominance thing with Tris lying with his head over her back but he used to do that with Holly all the time when they snuggled and she was definitely the boss LOL.
Sigh, I am so happy. He is now cleaning her ears for her as she snoozes.
Dachsie-love, there is nothing better - I am so happy.
xxxxxxxxxx
Gail,
Glad things ae going better. Just have to give them time to work out the dominance thing.Have fun with your new addition!
AW! That is soooo great! I think the boys adjust better than the girls. In our case, it took Bonnie about a year to stop being grumpy at Maddie......and Maddie was here first. Strong Alpha our Bonnie lass is. Well, we still have little grumps but usually a word from Mommy nips it in the growl.
I just know you are in for some howlarius moments as Ivy rips around the house and Tris tries to catch her......or is that the other way around? I'm smiling just picturing the dachsie circus at your house.
Usually takes about a week to 10 days to get eveyone to play nice together when I bring in a new pack member. Takes Ms. Lucy a little longer though. She's the Queen Bee around here and has to show it to the world first before she'll play.
That is great news. Be careful about the ear cleaning, that is a good way to get an ear infection.
:headbang: :headbang:Great news!!!!
Since Holly died Tris was very unsettled and barked and barked if I put him to bed in the kitchen - he had me retrained in less than an hour that he had to sleep in my bedroom where we could see one another lol - to be truthful I am not sure which one of us needed it more. However, Tris and lil' Ivy had their first night back in the kitchen.......silence, two snuggled up dogs and no barking. I feel so much happier and settled knowing Tris has accepted the little one and is taking comfort from her sharing his bed. She's my little Christmas angel.
Here is a picture from our outing in the car earlier - poor little mite has to have her vaccinations started again since the person who was selling her didn't complete the course in time - not to worry, she didn't even blink getting the jab. The vet said she looked a bit runty!!! How very rude I thought, she is just a petite little princess xxxx
Thats adorable! What a lovely pair!! I am so jealous though, i want a playmate for Fin so bad! Welli guess its not totally for Fin.. hee hee
And Fin wants a brother or sister so bad he tries desperatly to play with anything close to his size... including my bewildered one year old neice.
Fin Says: I dunno why dat silly hairless doggie dont know how to play da chasing game...
They are so cute! I missed your post about Ivy joining your family. Congrats!!! She sure is a beauty!!
Wow that was so touchy and very sweet! Tris really growing be a big caring sister for her..
