Mum forgot to sign them at the end! So, those of you have got a Jackie Lawson card from us will see it´s sent by us and by our Mum and Dad from the email, BUT not get the message sending their love at the end. Sorry she´s distracted right now!
We´ve been without water and electricity for two days because of horrible snow and rainstorms and now are still without heating and hot water ´cos the gas boiler has blown due to power surges. Mum is freezing as it´s an unseasonal 3 degrees centigrade here on the Mediterranean seafront. We - Red and Islay - are taking our cuddling duties seriously to her to keep her warm. Dad is getting all ratty trying to get a repair person here. Don´t know why we can´t all just go back to bed and sleep till someone comes?
I - Red - am worried about my Christmas trip to Scotland. My bag, bed and bones are packed to drive and we can´t leave here till everything´s fixed and the road over the Pyrenees is closed right now too! We have to get there ´cos Nana has lots of stuff under the tree for Islay and for me and needs us to cuddle her warm too. It´s five days to drive to Scotland from Spain, too far for us dachsies to walk it, that´s for sure!
We got ours this morning. Thank you very much! Hope your boiler gets fixed quickly and the weather clears for your trip to Nana's! We mailed your card yesterday, so it'll hopefully be waiting when you return, although I have no idea of transoceanic deliveries.
Gracias Aunty Julia, I´m excited about getting a transoceanic card. Our postman keeps our post for us when we go visiting and has promised not to eat it. Dad says the boiler man will come mañana - typically Spanish. Mum has been out to buy socks for the car - I think she´s going a bit loopy....
Boy you guys are having some excitement! Hope things are fixed and warmer soon. We got our card this morning too (we knew it was from our friends in Spain! :thumb:) it was a beautiful card!
I would not have known you could drive from Spain to Scotland! It is only one day longer of a drive as it is from here to Texas! Wow. I'll have to look at a world map. Have a wonderful holiday, Red and Islay your nana is going to love seeing you!
We´re glad you liked our card. We have done the drive to Scotland loads of times and sleep in the back seat in our harnesses on top of a fleecy seat cover. Mum and Dad stop every two hours for 10 minutes so we can sniff around and Mum holds our leads in a steel grip ´cos she´s frightened of us getting lost. We have so much info on our collar tags we can hardly lift our heads up!
If you want to map our trip: we leave home here in Altea in the Province of Alicante and drive along the Mediterranean coast past Valencia, Barcelona, over the Pyrenees till Nimes where we sleep in the Hotel Imperator. We have to bark in a French accent ´cos they don´t speak Spanish there. The love us there and we get a great walk through the Roman ruins and the park. Next day we sleep up the motorway through Lyon, the Champagne region and up to Burgundy where we stay in the Hotel Le Richebourg in Vosne Romanée, next to Nuits-St- George. It´s right in a vineyard and has a great park for us to play in and a restaurant with a chef who comes out to play with us and always wants to give us steak and prawns and stuff. Next day we drive to Coquelles, next to Calais, staying in a grotty Holiday Inn where the food is rotten (only hotel there) but their garden and grass is great for running around. Next day we drive to the Eurotunnel pet check and get scanned with a bleepy thing on our necks and I smile nicely whilst they check my passport piccy too and drive the car into the train carriage and we all have to stay still in the car in the train whilst it goes through the tunnel under the sea between France and England!
We drive up to Lancashire to see my Mum´s sister and stay a night with her and then drive up to Bladnoch, near Wigtown in Galloway, Scotland for Christmas....
It´s a good job we´re multilingual doggies, isn´t it? The gorgeous Miss Hallie can come on our next trip with Islay and me all together in the back seat. I´d feel pretty good with a Pwincess each side.
Love and snuggles,
Red & company.
Weeeowie! That sounds like one AWESOME trip! Hallie wants to know if she comes if her Mom can come too....she doesn't take up much space and would gladly curl up in the trunk! If your mom gets any photos on the way would you ask her if she can post them? I'll bet it's beautiful scenery out there!
Miss Hallie can bring her Mummy anytime. We do this car trip twice a year and we sleep most of the time in the back because we´ve seen all the scenery sooooo many times. Miss Hallie will need to see out of the window so it´s a great idea to have Mummy Dee Dee in the back seat with us. I like to be tickled all the way so Dee Dee could do that too. Last Summer my Nana came in the back seat with us and I nudged her hand every 30 seconds to remind her I needed tickling....good job she loves us.
Get your passports ready!
Red, the intrepid traveller.
We got our card too! BRRR!!! I hope you get your heat, and hot water fixed really soon. That happened to us a few years ago and it was miserable!!!! :comfort: I hope things get better and you are able to have a relaxing, enjoyable holiday!! We loved your card, Thank you so much!
Amorette
glad you liked the card. We loved yours! Pawsies crossed Porky Pie is well an allergy free for Christmas, poor little mite.
The boiler was half fixed this morning - we can put it on manually for 20 minutes or so for hot water to shower but it won´t stay on long enough to run the heating system. The spare part will be here 15th January so we´re leaving for Scotland tomorrow to drive there and spend Christmas with my mother and deal with the rest when we get home again. We have electricity now so can use the warm heat from the a/c units to keep warm till we leave.
