Hey folks, it's me da Maddewoo. Guess what? I'm back in da big bed! Yay!!! I finally wore down da mommy and papa so's dat dey got tired of my squeekin' LOUDLY at 'em in da middle of da night. Yay for da Maddewoo. I may be senile but I'm not tupid. :hello2: :thumb:
Now a word fwom da mommy:
Well, little Roo doesn't tell the complete story. Last Saturday, we went to Dr. Tonia and got some doggy valium. We give her one tablet 1/2 hr before bedtime and yes, we moved her back to the big bed because for the most part, she is more relaxed when snuggled up next to a pair of legs. 'Sides, I really missed my little leg warmer. Bonnie is as happy as a clam in the choice of floor beds and Maddie didn't get us up until 4:45 this morning.....which is GOOD for her.
We WERE going to try a new medication called Amipryl (sp) but it's about $75.00 per bottle (30 day supply). I'm not ready to fork out that kind of dough yet. We'll keep on the doggy downers hoping to cut it down to a 1/2 a pill in the future.
I don't know what Maddie's future is like and how long we'll have her, but for now, she sure in getting a ton of attention and extra loves. Poor grrrrl. It's so sad to see her sitting in the middle of the hallway zoned out of her mind. Over the last few weeks, she has really lost what it means to pee outside, and doesn't seem to make it on the piddle pads I have decorated about. Well, we're meaning to change our floor out one of these days anyway, so for now, I have Nature's Miracle Orange.
Hold good thoughts, please, for Miss Madderoo. She's my little laid back sweetie. Oh! She's also going bald partly from what ever ails her but also because Bonnie gives her vigorous baths every day.
Good thoughts too your little girl know how sad it is it see them like that my Gizmo was like that have you thought about asking for a human script sometimes cheaper for humans than dogs?
Sweet girl. She is so lucky to have such understanding owners in her senior years. It really is so sad to see them age and it happens way too fast. Glad to hear she is back in the big bed though! You need at least one doxie to keep you guys warm! :headbang: Keep us posted on her.
It can be a sad time of life for our little companions. No matter their mental state, I'm sure they know when they are loved. Cherish her while you can.
Congratulations Maddie for getting back in the big bed. Many good thoughts and prayers coming Maddie's way!!
One day you'll look back and be proud of all the hard work you've done to keep your baby, safe, healthy and happy. :thumb:
awww, good news bad news... I think about you guys a lot. Even though she may be zoned out, she is warm, and loved and well fed. Bless you for taking such good care of this senior weiner. (I should be so lucky.)
I pray that your hearts can find some peace through the pain of this.
have you mentioned the wee wee thing to the vet, Emma in her senior years started this and it turned out to be a oestrogen thingy due to neutering and we gave her cannot remember what now but she was good for another few years.
.................and good on you little miss for working all that out, stay snug wee one

Re-Read your post some how missed the part about the pee, Gizmo was in doggie diapers with human pads in them also wiped her down with baby wipes with the alovera in them.
If you need a suggestion, below is a link for a pair of diapers that work really well on dachies. I recently spent a lot of time looking for good ones that fit well and these fit the bill. Millie is in a size 1, and she's between 9 1/2 and 10 pounds.

AAWW! Maddie! I had forgotten you had posted a few months back about her possible senile problem. I guess she really is getting senile? Is that what it turned out to be? How old is she? Sorry. I'm sure you've already answered all these questions. I just missed it. Anyway, good thoughts that this med will do the trick for her.
I could be wrong but am pretty sure I am right on this. I know I had twinkie on anipryl and it was pricey BUT there was also a generic form that was like 1/3 of the price of the name brand. Since that was 7 YEARS ago, the generic should still be available.

Here is the information on the generic version.
Selegiline is the generic replacement drug for Anipryl. Selegiline is a more affordable alternative to Anipryl, however, it does not offer the wide variety of dosages that Anipryl does. Anipryl is also available in handy 30 count blister packs that make pill administration easier to monitor and they help keep the product fresher as well.
L-Deprenyl works in the body to help prolong productive activity of the neurotransmitter Dopamine, consequently, L-Deprenyl medications are often used in the treatment of dopamine production related diseases including canine cushing's disease and cognitive dysfunction in dogs, as well as, alzheimer's and parkinson's disease in humans.
Merion & the ZZ's
Ohh poor little girl, but so glad to hear she's just living her life to the fullest. Still crossing fingers for her possible full recovery..
Thank you so much for caring about my "poor pitiful" Roo. Merion, thanks for the info on Selegiline. My vet is getting me a prescription which we will pick up Friday. She is ok with me ordering through Fosters & Smith (A LOT CHEAPER) so I should get the meds sometime shortly after Christmas. The doggy Valium doesn't do much but is a small help in the meantime. The stubborn stinker still gets me up at 3:00 and then again around 4:00, 5:00 and then the alarm goes off. Other than her loopy ways, she is as healthy as a horse and Mark says she will probably outlive us all.
Bonnie here: I'm a good girl and love to sleep ALLLLLLLLL night.
Maddie: I wanna cookie!
