Title: My sister....
Post by: MyLittleBoo on December 03, 2009, 12:27:34 PM
I really didn't want to do this, I have been struggling with it since we got the news...  But, if there are any spare rays out there, my sister could sure use them right now.

When my sister had her oldest son 9-1/2 years ago, she had an epidural, and since then she has had problems with her back and her sciatic nerve.  It has taken this long for somebody to take her serious about her pain, the other dr.s just told her that she was too young to have problems like that, take aleve, take tylenol, there is no way that there is something wrong like that.  She then had twins in 2002, which made the pain worse.  She moved to Pocatello a few months ago to try and get her life straightened out, she is getting her GED and planning on going to school for another 7 years to become a Pharmacist.  But, the pain still  :bandaid:persisted and her sciatic got so bad, she couldn't feel her leg or foot at all, so back off to another Dr.  She will be having back surgery soon.  Thank goodness!  But, she has also been very sick, blood in her vomit and stool?  They did a gastroscope, and we found out that her stomach is horribly tore up from all the aleve and tylenol throughout the last 9 years.  Dr. says it looks like hamburger meat and that he is surprised she is still alive!  He then gave her a year at most to live and nothing can be done to help her.  I read up on gastrectomies, she is going to ask if it can be done for her, at least she will have life.   She will be 28 on the 15th of this month, she has 3 young boys Anthony is 9, Bryson & Treyton are almost 8, they need their mom, we all need her still.  We haven't always gotten along or seen eye to eye on things, but she is my baby sister, I just don't know what I will do without her!  I am having a hard time letting myself believe that this could happen! This can't be it, there has to be something they can do....  All we can do now is pray and enjoy what time we may have with her.  If you could send some rays and prayers, it would be great.  Thanks to you all!

On a lighter note, I think we may have narrowed things down to my gallbladder finally...  It has been a long couple months since the pains got bad again...  I seen the surgeon yesterday and he wanted another ultrasound which I had today.  There are no stones, but the tube that drains the bile is a little enlarged, so now next Thursday I go in for the Hydoscan, hopefully that tells us something....  I am just crossing my fingers, because I don't like needles...  lol         :dontknow:       At least Philip will be off work that day so he can go with me and hold my hand....        :bandaid:

What sad news.  It so awful that it took them so long to pinpoint what was going on with your sister!!!   I will definately be praying for her and all her family.  And of course, for you!!   Aleeve and Tylenol do some very nasty things to the stomach, it amazes me that doctors keep telling patients its okay to take on a long-term basis.  My dad has stomach issues from extended Excedrin and Tylenol usage.   Please keep me posted on how your sister is doing.

I really hope your test comes back with some answers for you.   It is frustrating to spend so much pain and money and be told they still don't know for sure.    I'll be praying that you can get your gallbladder issues resolved soon too.   The recovery from that surgery is pretty quick now.

Rays & Hugs to all as for back pain I really feel for her ( I have been in those shoes myself) some Doctors can be so uncaring now days you talk to them they automatically think you are a Drug seeker. One would think if some one complained enough they would do a MRI no matter what age to see if there was something going on with the back. Now they say they will not do back surgery because of her stomach??? I do hope she will get a second and even a third opinion  Just telling her she only has a year to live is terrible unjust. Just remember the squeaky wheel gets the grease you have to be very assertive to get good health care now days
I have been preaching for years Tylenol is a bad drug there just now taking it out of some drugs a Respiratory therapist in the hospital that  I use to work at Tylenol is one of the over the counter drugs that you cannot recover from if you over dose on it damages the kidneys.
I do hope they find away to help her 28 is too young to leave little kids Rays to all.
Good Luck with your Gallbladder test.

I will definitley keep your sister in my prayers.  Having just received some similar devastating news, I can understand your un-belief that this could happen.  Take care and keep praying!

I know you have a ton of things going on now but try to take good care of yourself too and don't spread yourself too thin.
You will be in our thoughts and prayers.
