Title: A Thanksgiving funeral....
Post by: doxielady5569128 on November 24, 2009, 11:40:16 AM
My great-uncle passed away late Sunday night.  (My grandma's brother)   We were very sad that he won't be with us anymore, but happy that he will not have to suffer anymore.  He had cancer that was literally wasting him away.  His wife just passed away about a week and a half ago and he stopped eating.   I'll always remember my memories of attending their wedding when I was 8 (they got married in their 60s)   and getting to share their first dance with them.    I miss them both a lot, but I know they are in a better place.  Sadly, we won't be able to attend the funeral as it will be either tomorrow or Thanksgiving Day.   My grandma was planning a trip there to hopefully see him before he was gone, but he just couldn't hang on.   I miss my uncle Bobby so much, I can still picture his smiling face and his straw cowboy hat he always wore.
I found out about his death yesterday morning, but couldn't bring myself to post it wasn't even "real" until today.

Amorette, I am so very sorry to hear about your great uncle.  But you are right, at least he is not suffering anymore and he is with the person he greatly loved!  God bless you and your family...you are all in my thoughts and prayers.  Your wonderful memories of both of them will carry you all through this difficult time.

We are so sorry for your loss.  In time, we hope the pain of losing him will be softened by your happy memories.

He was in his late 80s or early 90s.

Thank you everyone for your kind words.  Losing him was very hard!!!  It was hard to see him just give up, but he missed his wife so much.   I'm comforted to know they are together and the cancer can't get him in Heaven.
