November 22, 1992: I brought home a male dachshund puppy, my very first dog ever. He didn't have a name yet, although I had several in mind. My 10 year old neighbor picked "Rudy" from the bunch. He was the first one of several puppers: Max, Scally and Rusty, who are now at the Bridge, as well as Zora and Zeke. This doesn't even take into consideration our "guests" at the Dachshie Hilton: Meshach, Basie, Willie, Kong, Eddie and Duke, as well as the countless other four-legged friends we made.
I remember my parents asking me why when they found out I got a dog. I can't think of a good reason why not. What a great ride it's been. There's ups and downs, but certainly far more ups than downs. My life has been considerably enriched due to the presence of four legged ones.
I couldn't agree more. I feel lucky to have the boys in my life. Their unconditional love warms my heart every single day!
I can´t imagine life without a dachshund or two (or three, or more) by my side throughout all the ups and downs and smooth sailing too. Bet it seems like yesterday you brought Rudy home. I can still remember the day my Rexy came to us when I was 5 and I´m up near the 50 mark now. Bless them all.
Fin is really MY first dog. I had dogs growing up but they always liked my parents more (I was a very loud, fast child who loved animals a little too much. If you remember Elvira from Tiny Toons http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LAlQoei16AM .. that was me. So i dont blame the dogs one bit..)
He makes my life 100% better.
David, there is nothing better than our fur children. I hope you have another 17 years of fur-covered companionship!
I couldn't agree with you more, David. Life is good....but dachshunds make it soooo much better!!
Wow 17 years...time sure flies. You were both very lucky to have each other! They sure do give us a lot while they are here they just don't get to stay long enough.
What an awesome memory !!! Happy Remembrance Day !!!
