Title: A Little Extra Fiber?
Post by: Lowriders in Ohio on November 07, 2009, 06:00:25 PM
I guess this falls under the topic of Diet, although it is questionable.  Sammy has had some diarrhea and vomiting for the past couple of days.  It was not excessive, and he was still eating and drinking.  We thought he ate something outside that did not agree with him.  However, I was shocked and horrified this morning when Sammy threw up....AN ENTIRE PAIR OF PANTYHOSE!!!   :eeew: I was in a jury trial this week and discarded those pantyhose in the trash Wednesday morning because they were ripped.  I took the trash out Wednesday night, so Sammy must have snagged them sometime Wednesday.  I never saw him with the pantyhose, and we keep our trash in the bathroom closet where the dogs cannot usually get to it.  The pantyhose were probably inside Sammy from Wednesday to early Saturday morning.

We are so thankful that Sammy brought the pantyhose back up on his own and did not require surgery to remove the blockage!!!  We honestly do feed him!

Boy you sure got lucky maybe he should go over to the Doberman Talk forum they call Dobermans Dober Goats allot have died eating things they should not. Some have had blockages removed once some even twice, since Dachshunds have deep chests they sure can get blockages too guess any dog can. Sure glad Sammy did not have to go under the knife if you see something go down you can give Peroxide to get them to bring it back up, something sharp you can feed them bread even read cotton balls soaked in milk??? They sure keep you on your toes all of the time and try to give you heart failure.Papbouv

Holy cow!!!  That would be really scary.  I'm so glad that Sammy is okay.  Whoooweeee!

It's amazing what can go into these little garbage disposals.  My first Dachsie, Dixie, managed to scarf down a tampon.  When it came out the other end, believe me, we were SHOCKED!

Whose Wiener was it who ate a sock some years ago?  I think it was on this board.  I forget the outcome though.

Some things dogs eat;
Lotion, oak trees, and dryer sheets. Dashboards, socks, and birth control
eaten underware and the headset to my husbands xbox 360.
ate a rock once he did poop it out - ouch, Havi ate a yellow sponge, 2 weeks later pooped it out ..... Gabby ( RIP) ate the top of a cat food can and a coach bag and a dooney bag
he got my husband's razor off the sink and ate it.
few hundred dollars later, the er vet found the razor, a rock and pieces of plastic (we think from the remote) in his stomach! Dante, demon dog lived to be 12, bless his heart. Indy likes anything with stuffing.
We just lost our dobe to an obstruction. BUT, he ate 12-15 pair of underwear, 7 socks, a littlest petshop toy, a head band, a training bra, a whole chicken bone, my child's ball, and 3 boxes of crayons, AND rubberbands
not all at once. This was over a one year period. He had a surgery in Jan. at 8 months and one last week when we lost him.
A tennis sock, an entire bottle of Chewable Vitamin C (250,000 mg total, but she didn't have a "cold" all last winter) and a tube of toothpaste (chicken flavor).
Our friends have a young Lab called Hooper who suddenly got stomach problems and had to have emergency surgery. The vet removed from his intestine - and I quote - "a large male thong". Hooper's rather shy male owner was at pains to tell us that Hooper must have found it in the park ...
Zippy our fox terrier once spewed a mess that included two acorns, a whole baby sweetcorn, and most of a plastic toy soldier. But the worst thing she ever swallowed was a used condom in the park. We saw her swallow it but weren't quick enough to stop her. We then had an anxious wait until it emerged intact from her other end the next morning.
ate the dashboard out of my car, does that count? LOL.
