Patches here...
Mom was scratcing my tummy and saw a flea. Then she dumped me in the sink for a bath with shampoo! And, then Dottie and Judy had a bath...and then she changed the sheets on the big bed and washed all our blankies...they were just smelling nice!
Yikes, fleas. Just what we need. Everyone and everything into the tub...now! Wiped down the sofa and chairs (leather) and hope there's no eggs and just one flea trying to make it in for the winter! Yech!
I can't think of many things I hate more than fleas...fudgin nasty little tards....
I can't prove it but I'm certain it works. Wanna know if your dog has fleas? Roll em over on their backs or hold them like a baby and the fleas come to marching to the top, usually between their back legs. For some stupid reason I think it's because fleas don't like being upside down. Don't ask me why, it just seems to work that way.
When I had Sully Angel he had fleas one year and I went into panic mode because he had so many allergies that I didn't know what to use. So one day while watching QVC I saw a treatment that was natural and safe to humans and pets alike diamcious(sp) earth. I bought it and it worked the fleas were gone in two days both in the house and on the animals. QVC no longer sells it but it is available online, here's a link to info on it:

Ed, that's how I saw the flea! Patches was on his back getting a belly rub and I saw it come up around his back leg!
In nearly 20 years of owning dachsies, we have only had 1 flea problem and it was a doozy! I don't like using chemicals on the dogs; but, where fleas are concerned...they got their Advantage applied this morning!
Yech...

I ask my vet one time why we never had fleas and she told me that the :sunny: must hit every part of our yard at some point during the day. She told me to continue to keep bushes and trees trimmed up so that the :sunny: could get in all the nooks and crannies. So that is what we have done and so far so good. Not to long ago we installed a carport in the backyard for rainy/snowy days so our luck may be over.
